The Pitch: Amber (Alison Brie) runs the Bakersfield outpost of Tuscany Grove, a popular Olive Garden-adjacent family eatery chain. Great at her job but yearning for something more, Amber gets the opportunity of a lifetime when her boss (Lil Rel Howery) selects her for an all-expenses-paid work retreat to Italy. Amber’s excitement is doubled when her best friend Emily (Ego Nwodim) suggests a tantalizing possibility during her time in Europe: What if she falls in love? On the trip, she meets a group of other lucky Tuscany Grove managers, including the nosy Deb (Molly Shannon), the arrogant Fran (Tim Heidecker), and the friendly Dana (Zach Woods). Most notably, she’s introduced to Nick Martucci (Alessandro Nivola), the chain’s wealthy, handsome owner. Nick immediately takes a liking to Amber ...
Rick Ross won’t be getting a “World’s Best Boss” mug from employees of five Wingstop locations in Mississippi operated by his business entity Boss Wings Enterprises LLC. The company has been forced to pay more than $100,000 by the US Department of Labor over violations including child labor regulations. Investigators found that the rapper’s company illegally made employees pay for uniforms and cash register shortages, which caused the affected employees’ hourly wages to fall below the federal minimum wage of $7.25. They also cited overtime violations in which deductions for safety training and background checks led to employees being paid at overtime rates lower than federal law requirements. The Department of Labor also discovered that a 15-year-old employee was allowed to work past ...
Prominent conservatives have spent more than a year trying to convince themselves that Trump won the 2020 election, so it’s no surprise that the fictional, morally-gray world of Breaking Bad presents an intellectual obstacle course. After Albuquerque, New Mexico erected statues of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, Republican politicians, regional talk radio hosts, and now Fox News have tried to frame this mildly amusing tourist trap as a capital-T Threat to America. The statues were commissioned by Sony Pictures Television without the aid of taxpayer money and unveiled at the end of July. Democrat mayor Tim Keller touted the $400 million in production fees and tourism dollars that Breaking Bad had already invested in the Albuquerque community. “While the stories might be ficti...
While they’ve mended fences before, the Kid Cudi seems adamant that he’ll never again be friends with Kanye West after their most recent public fallout in February. In a new cover story for Esquire conducted back in June, Cudi said it would take a “motherfucking miracle” for them to patch up their relationship. After initially declining to speak about West for the interview, Cudi let off steam about being cut from Donda 2 solely due to his friendship with Kim Kardashian’s now former boyfriend Pete Davidson. “Do you know how it feels to wake up one day, look at your social media, and you’re trending because somebody’s talking some shit about you?” Cudi said. “That shit pissed me off. That he had the power to fuck with me that week. That he used his power to fuck with me.” He...
The Vietnam War was not known for an excess of intellectualism, and Zac Efron’s character definitely has more beer than brains in the new trailer for The Greatest Beer Run Ever. It premieres September 30th in theaters and on Apple TV+. This retelling of a true story stars Efron as John “Chickie” Donohue, a Marine Corps veteran who in 1967 decided to support the troops in Vietnam by bringing them some well-shaken lukewarm brewskies. The trailer shows the moment of inspiration inebriation when he reached the decision in a bar in New York. As anti-war protestors march across a black-and-white television, the barkeep, played by Bill Murray, moans, “Do these protestors not know that our soldiers see that on TV? I’d like to go over to Vietnam, track down all the boys from the neighborhood, ...
One look at Jenna Ortega in pigtail braids, and Wednesday might be your new favorite day of the week. The most misanthropic member of the Addams Family is the central character in the upcoming Netflix series Wednesday, and it’s time to follow her to school in today’s new teaser trailer. Not that this is much of a surprise, but Wednesday (Ortega) has had a hard time making friends at her run-of-the-mill public high school. But that won’t stop her from going to great lengths to defend her family: “The only person who gets to torture my brother is me,” she tells a crew of churlish swim team boys mid-practice, before pouring a bunch of bloodthirsty piranhas into their pool. It’s not long before Wednesday is inevitably expelled (again), so, her parents Morticia and Gomez (Catherine Zeta-Jo...
Top Performances is a recurring feature in which we definitively handpick the very best performances from an iconic actor or actress. This has been updated on the occasion of Robert De Niro’s birthday. It’s not that we’d ever refer to many of Robert De Niro’s best roles as “vulnerable” in and of themselves. The legendary actor is one of the all-time great performers of tough guys, in their many forms, and there’s a ferocity to many of his early turns that’s gone nearly unparalleled in the years since. Yet one of the significant aspects of De Niro’s genius as an actor is the way in which he’s been able to build a long career out of playing on the earlier performances he’s delivered, whether it’s in adding new shades to the plethora of gangsters and fallen icons he’s portrayed for Martin Sco...
Based on People magazine’s new interview with Mark Hoppus, it’s looking increasingly likely that the future of Blink-182 will once again include Tom DeLonge. While speaking about his recovery from cancer, Hoppus opened up about a home visit with DeLonge and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker that left the trio in “a really great place right now.” “It was the first time that all three of us were in the same room in like five years,” Hoppus recalled about the informal reunion, which took place before he began chemotherapy in 2021 for stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. “It’s actually better than it used to be. There was no agenda. There were no lingering grudges. It felt very back to what it should be: three friends sitting in a room.” Adding that the renewed connection was crucial...

Mariah Carey is looking to cash in on her holiday music success by trademarking the title “Queen of Christmas,” but singers Darlene Love and Elizabeth Chan — who each have their own valid claim to the crown — are looking to prevent a monopoly on the term. After Carey’s March 2021 trademark claim was recently made public, Chan filed a formal declaration of opposition in court, and Love has hinted at doing the same. Along with “Queen of Christmas,” Carey also filed for exclusive rights to “QOC,” “Princess of Christmas,” and “Christmas Princess.” Back in 2019, her classic song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart 25 years after its release. Since then, it has become the first holiday song to reach one billion streams on Spotify. Chan, who exclusively ...
