Last month, Rage Against the Machine vocalist Zack de la Rocha injured his leg early into the band’s concert in Chicago — only the second date in their long-awaited reunion tour. While the band never shared an official diagnosis, de la Rocha’s friend, the photographer Glen E. Friedman, recently revealed that the rapper tore his Achilles. “I went to see my good friend Zack (with his torn Achilles) perform last night at Madison Square Garden, one of the most hallowed venues in the modern world,” Friedman wrote on Instagram. Just as Rage Against the Machine finished that fateful Chicago concert with de la Rocha sitting down, the band completed the rest of their North American tour (wrapping up tonight, August 14th, with another show at the Garden) with their leader seated at the front of the ...
The gun fired by Alec Baldwin on the set of Rust — killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza — could not have gone off without Baldwin pulling the trigger, according to an FBI forensic report obtained by ABC News. In the incident, which occurred last October in Sante Fe, New Mexico, Baldwin believed he was handling a “cold gun,” or one without live ammunition, when it went off and struck Hutchins in the stomach. Baldwin insisted that he never pulled the trigger, but the FBI’s forensic research says otherwise. Using accidental discharge testing, investigators determined that the .45 Colt caliber F.lli Pietta single-action revolver “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger.” The New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator has classifi...
The Pitch: The Walking Dead, the flagship show of the long-running zombie apocalypse franchise, is finally coming to an end later this year after 11 seasons. But the Walking Dead universe is showing no signs of slowing down, with multiple spin-offs on the horizon, including ones for fan-favorite Daryl as well as Maggie and Negan, but the first to premiere is the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead. The series, created by Walking Dead honcho Scott M. Gimple and franchise stalwart Channing Powell, gives a level of freedom never seen before in the Walking Dead universe, allowing new writers, directors, and stars to tell stand-alone tales of the zombie outbreak. As with any anthology, quality can vary wildly between entries, but the three episodes provided for review are more good than ...
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for A League of Their Own, Season 1 Episode 6, “Stealing Home.”] As A League of Their Own co-creator/star Abbi Jacobson tells Consequence, the original film which inspired her new Amazon Prime Video series “is iconic and important to all of us. It’s just people’s favorite movie. So the film doesn’t need to be remade — and we were really focused on telling the stories that were not told in the film for whatever reason.” Those reasons might include, in Jacobson’s words, “the limitations of what stories people were telling in 1992.” For a lot of things have changed between 1992 and 2022, but here’s a big one: Jacobson feels pretty sure that the adaptation’s groundbreaking approach to LGBTQ+ representation could only happen today: “I think a lot ...
One person was killed and more than a dozen others were injured after a stage collapsed at Medusa Festival in Valencia, Spain on Saturday. High winds exceeding more than 50 mph reportedly caused a partial collapse of the festival’s main stage, according to Reuters. “At around four in the morning unexpected and violent strong winds destroyed certain areas of the festival, forcing management to make the immediate decision to vacate the concert area to guarantee the safety of attendees, workers and artists,” festival organizers said in a statement. Among those injured, three suffered serious trauma injuries and 14 others had minor injuries. The remainder of Medusa Festival has been canceled in light of the tragedy. The six-day electronic music event, which took place on a beach in Valencia, f...
Turnstile revealed on Friday afternoon that guitarist and co-founder Brady Ebert is no longer a member of the group. The announcement was made via the band’s Instagram Story and follows months of speculation after Ebert’s extended absence from their live set. To break the news, the band posted a message that read: “Turnstile and guitarist Brady Ebert are parting ways. We are deeply grateful for our time together. Our love for him continues and we wish him nothing but the best moving forward. Love, Turnstile.” No further details have been provided, but it does give a definitive answer to fans who have noted Ebert’s exclusion on the early summer “Turnstile Love Connection Tour.” A March 2022 taping for Jimmy Kimmel Live! appears to be Ebert’s last public appearance with the band, when they p...
Nicki Minaj has never been one to tone down her wild side, but today, she’s literally spelling it out for you. After teasing it on TikTok, the rapper has officially shared the new single “Super Freaky Girl” today, which prominently samples Rick James’ 1981 smash “Super Freak.” By the song’s title and, well, the fact that it’s Nicki Minaj, you can probably guess what “Super Freaky Girl” is about: “I can lick it, I can ride it/ While you slippin’ and sliding/ I can do all them little tricks and keep the dick up inside it,” she raps in the chorus (sorry, Mom and Dad) before giving us a spelling lesson. “He want a F-R-EEEEE-A-K.” There are a few humorous lines throughout the song, like: “Get me Rocky A$AP, word to Rih,” shouting out the new parents. And a personal favorite: “He said,...
This review was part of our coverage of the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. The Pitch: Emily (Aubrey Plaza) just can’t catch a break. She’s a college dropout, reeling from a felony aggravated assault conviction that follows her to every job interview, tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt weighing her down like a ball and chain. It’s calcified her to the world, approaching each new interview just waiting for the next reason she’ll be rejected. All she’s got to her name are her wits and a can of pepper spray. But a rare opportunity appears when a coworker at her degrading catering gig turns her onto a way to make some extra money: show up at a warehouse at the proper hour, perform a small-scale credit card scam with boosted flatscreens, and you earn $200 in an hour. You ...
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and The Game is doing everything short of bleaching his hair on the new 10-minute Eminem “diss” track “The Black Slim Shady.” The foremost Pick Me in hip-hop today has finally given up asking 50 Cent to reignite their mid-aughts feud. “Because 50 can’t rap, so I’ve gotta go a level up and challenge the better rapper,” he rationalized in an April interview on Fresh Pair, leaving out the part where 50 Cent was too busy building a TV empire to respond. “Nobody really takes shots at Eminem off this pre-conceived notion that he’s better than everybody. Well I want action, and I want it today.” You’d be forgiven for wondering what kind of “action” he’s looking for, especially after he added, “If you’re a ‘rap god,’ co...
