Open Mike Eagle Announces New Tape Component System with the Auto Reverse, Shares “i’ll fight you”: Stream

Open Mike Eagle set to return this year with Component System with the Auto Reverse, his forthcoming mixtape via his own Auto Reverse Records. Before its release on October 7th, the rapper is previewing the project today with the new single “i’ll fight you.” Component System with the Auto Reverse is Mike’s eighth full-length project to date, and from what we’ve heard about it so far, it might also be one of his most sonically eclectic. With some high-profile collaborators including Madlib, Diamond D, and Quelle Chris, the 14-track record is embellished with jazzy boom-bap, blips of hard rock, cartoon show samples, and more — all grounded in Mike’s progressive approach to hip-hop. A Dream Setlist for BLACKPINK’s “BORN PINK” World Tour

As if news of a long-awaited sophomore album wasn’t enough, BLACKPINK are also set to embark on a massive (and massively hyped) world tour. The “BORN PINK” tour will celebrate the album of the same name, and the new era for BLINKs will officially begin with the release of lead single “PINK VENOM” on August 19th. Finally, BLACKPINK will be back in our area. BLACKPINK are one of the most successful girl groups in K-pop history — their last tour, the “In Your Area World Tour,” remains the highest-grossing tour by a Korean girl group — and the “BORN PINK” tour is set to raise the bar. Dubbed the “largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group,” the trek features dates in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, and the tour poster promises more cities yet to be announc...

Pixies Unveil “Vault of Heaven” and Four-Date US Tour: Stream

Pixies go on an epic journey from a 7-11 to the “Vault of Heaven” on their newest single. The track appears on their September 30th album, Doggerel, and if you live in California or New York, you’ll be able to hear it live on the band’s newly-announced four-date US tour. “Vault of Heaven” would seem to be about a bad drug trip, but that depends on a rare word they’re using often, “titrate.” As in, “There in the vault of heaven/ While trying to titrate/ I ended up in another case/ I went to 7-11 to try and get me straight/ I ended up there in outer space.” Most commonly, titration is an attempt to measure the concentration of a chemical, though in medicine the term is sometimes used when adjusting a dosage. Either way, the process doesn’t seem to be going well for Pixies. Black Fr...
