Warner Bros. Shelves Finished Batgirl Movie Despite $90 Million Price Tag
The Batgirl film set to star Leslie Grace, Michael Keaton, and Brendan Fraser has been scrapped by Warner Bros. Discovery, The Wrap reports. The DC Extended Universe movie was slated to stream on HBO Max, but it will no longer be released. Directed by Bad Boys for Life filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah from a script by Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, The Flash), Batgirl was filmed from November 2021 to March 2022 with a $90 million budget. Amazon Prime Mistakes Steel Panther for Mötley Crüe on Documentary Page
Shout at the devil? More like shout at the graphic designer. In a hilarious snafu, Amazon Prime has mistakenly used a photo of modern glam-metal satirists Steel Panther in the splash artwork for the 2020 Mötley Crüe documentary, Rock ‘n Roll Icon: Mötley Crüe. The latter’s logo is emblazoned over the wrong band. Even more bizarre, an actual picture of current-day Mötley Crüe can be seen in the top right, but it’s cutoff so you can’t see their faces. It appears a Steel Panther fan discovered the image, with frontman Michael Starr taking to Instagram to repost it. Adding further irony, Steel Panther are known for parodying ’80s glam metal bands like Mötley Crüe, which is the source of beef between Starr and Nikki Sixx. Frankie Cosmos Announce New Album Inner World Peace, Share “One Year Stand”: Stream
Frankie Cosmos have graced us with news of their new album, Inner World Peace, arriving on October 21st via Sub Pop Records. The announcement comes along with the set’s first single, “One Year Stand.” The album’s development followed a “pandemic hiatus” that lasted nearly 500 days for the quartet. In the interim, bandleader Greta Kline wrote 100 songs, which upon reuniting, the group retooled and infused with their own influences that ranged from “70s folk and pop” to “ambient” and “psych.” Inner World Peace was co-produced by Frankie Cosmos with Nate Mendelsohn and Katie Von Schleicher, who also handled mixing. Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in Road House Remake
Prime Video has greenlit a remake of the classic 1989 film Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal. It will be directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity), with Joel Silver returning as producer after serving in the same role for the original. The reimagining centers around a former UFC fighter, played by Gyllenhaal, who takes a job as a bouncer at “a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.” Gyllenhaal has some big shoes to fill. Mo Ostin, the legendary music executive who shepherded the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Madonna, and more to Warner Bros. Records over his three-decade tenure, has been confirmed dead from natural causes at 95.
