Jim Carrey Says He Worries About Paul Dano’s Dark Portrayal of The Riddler

Jim Carrey may be mulling retirement, but he seems to be considering a new career as a cultural critic. Case in point: Matt Reeves’ The Batman has widely been praised for its grounded portrayal of Gotham City, but Carrey isn’t too thrilled about the film’s darkness. The actor — who’s had his own turn as Caped Crusader foe The Riddler — said he had mixed emotions about the movie, and especially about Paul Dano’s interpretation of the character. “I’ve not seen it. It’s a very dark version. I have mixed emotions about it,” Carrey told Unilad. “To each his own and all that. I love [Dano] as an actor, he’s a tremendous actor.” Carrey played The Riddler in Joel Schumacher’s 1995 film Batman Forever, which starred Val Kilmer as the superhero. But where Dano’s villain...

Song of the Week: Harry Styles Is Back, And Nothing Is the Same “As It Was”

Song of the Week breaks down and talks about the song we just can’t get out of our head each week. Find these songs and more on our Spotify Top Songs playlist. For our favorite new songs from emerging artists, check out our Spotify New Sounds playlist. This week, Harry Styles gives us the first look inside the walls of Harry’s House. “Harry, you’re no good alone.” Artistically, that’s something we know isn’t true. It’s been years now since Harry Styles struck out on his own, re-inventing his public persona through vintage aesthetics and the devil-may-care creativity of a present-day rockstar. His art, both in his self-titled solo debut and the Grammy-winning Fine Line, has always pivoted between the achingly personal and intentionally coy. It might be easy to speculate ...

During today’s (Friday, April 1) edition of “The Nightly Nuge”, a news-style clip in which outspoken conservative rocker Ted Nugent offers his take on the news of our world every night, he reflected on the recent passing of FOO FIGHTERS drummer Taylor Hawkins. Ted said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It’s heartbreaking on so many levels. Fifty years old with a horrible, long-term celebration of substance abuse. I’m not… Well, I am casting judgment because substance abuse is selfish. His wife and daughter, they should have been taken into consideration. Is spending time with your wife and daughter more important than getting high or less important than getting high? “I’ve told the story many times, but I’ve witnessed it,” Nu...

City Girls and Fivio Foreign Are “Top Notch” on New Single: Stream

City Girls return today with the new single “Top Notch,” a team-up with New York rapper Fivio Foreign. On the track, the duo of Yung Miami and JT blend their classic Southern hip-hop charm with the thundering grit of New York City drill rap. Like all good things City Girls, “Top Notch” is unapologetically braggadocious, as Yung Miami and JT flaunt their wealth and high status: “I’m the baddest bitch on your newsfeed,” JT spits over a track by British producer AXL Beats. “Y’all gossiping, but who the news feed?/ I’m in the sky box, you in the nose bleeds/ Fly bitches need privacy.” Meanwhile, Fivio doubles-down on his own rags-to-riches story: “When I was down, I was broke but I told ’em I knew I’d be rich by the top of the week,” he raps. Though Fivio claims “this is not a movie,” the...

This year marks the 45th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s Animals and the 17th anniversary of a very special day for an animal named Pink Floyd. Floyd, an African flamingo, escaped from a Kansas zoo in 2005, and was just spotted happy and healthy in the balmy waters of Cox Bay, Texas in the Gulf of Mexico. “Looks like Pink Floyd has returned from the ‘dark side the of moon,’” the Texas Parks and Wildlife Coastal Fisheries posted on Facebook, alongside a video of the avian celebrity strutting his stuff next to some seagulls. This fine feathered Floyd has occasionally been spotted frequenting Texas beaches, and each resurfacing is met with a celebration for the former zoo denizen who refused to be another beak in the wall. According to The New York Times, Pink ...

Will Smith Resigns From Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences

Will Smith has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences after assaulting Chris Rock at last Sunday’s Academy Awards. In a statement released Friday, Smith said: “I have directly responded to the Academy’s disciplinary hearing notice, and I will fully accept any and all consequences for my conduct. My actions at the 94th Academy Awards presentation were shocking, painful, and inexcusable. The list of those I have hurt is long and includes Chris, his family, many of my dear friends and loved ones, all those in attendance, and global audiences at home. I betrayed the trust of the Academy. I deprived other nominees and winners of their opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their extraordinary work. I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who dese...

JOHN 5 Weighs In On WILL SMITH’s Slap: ‘It Was Uncalled For And It Was Unnecessary’

Former MARILYN MANSON and current ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5 has weighed in on “The Slap,” saying actor Will Smith‘s actions on the Oscars stage were “uncalled for.” Smith stormed onstage during this year’s live Oscars broadcast and smacked Chris Rock across the face before returning to his front-row seat and yelling a profanity-filled threat at the comedian. The confrontation took place after Rock made a joke about Smith‘s wife, calling Jade Pinkett Smith “G.I. Jane” in reference to her bald head, which she has previously explained is due to the medical condition alopecia. John 5 commented on the incident in a new interview with Sofa King Cool Magazine. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I think what happened… Everyb...
