ERIC KRETZ On Next STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Album: ‘My Guess Is It’s Probably Gonna Be The Hardest Record We’ve Ever Had’

In a new interview with Australia’s May The Rock Be With You, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS drummer Eric Kretz was asked if he and his bandmates have had any discussions about using the coronavirus downtime to work on new material. The 55-year-old musician responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Yeah, there was at first, but then it kind of goes into, ‘Do you guys wanna do a record?’ And we’re so disappointed that we finished the ‘Perdida’ record [STP‘s first-ever acoustic album] and then we weren’t able to tour it. And I think in some ways, it was actually very therapeutic just to take a break — just take a break. The whole world is hurting right now, and it’s just, like, ‘Let’s just hang out with our families.’ ...

The Emperor Hunts Jedi in First Teaser Trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi: Watch

The Jedi Order has been destroyed, Darth Sidious reigns as Emperor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) is forced into hiding in the first teaser trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi. The hottest new destination in that galaxy far, far away comes to Disney+ May 25th. Obi-Wan Kenobi is set between the events of the Star Wars movies Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, when Luke Skywalker is just a boy, and his father Anakin Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen) is filling the galaxy with terror. “The fight is done,” Kenobi sighs in the teaser. “We lost.” But just because he’s been beaten, that doesn’t mean he’s safe. As seen in the Star Wars: Rebels animated series, the Emperor has founded the Inquisitorius, an organization of force-sensitive hunters who track do...

Why CODA Should Be This Year’s Underdog Oscar Triumph

Following the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, February 27th and the Film Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday, March 6th, awards season is now officially going full steam ahead. Every Oscars race tends to have its underdog, and this year’s movie-that-could has the potential to be Sian Heder’s CODA. CODA received warm reactions following a premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Apple TV+, but initially failed to generate the kind of buzz seen around some of this year’s other top titles. Even so — and rightly so — the morning of the Oscar nominations saw CODA emerge with three nominations, including one for Best Picture. Adapted from a 2014 French film, La Famille Bélier, CODA is centered on Ruby (Emilia Jones), the only hearing member of a deaf family. The stor...

Colin Farrell’s The Penguin Spin-Off Gets Greenlight from HBO Max

Matt Reeves’ iteration of Batman might’ve just flown into theaters, but the director already has another DC project up his sleeve: HBO Max has officially ordered a spin-off series centered on The Penguin, which will see Colin Farrell reprise his role as the criminal mastermind. Just as The Batman offers a thrilling origin story for Bruce Wayne, this forthcoming limited drama series — currently under the working title The Penguin — will provide detailed context about how Oswald Cobblepot rose to power in Gotham City. Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will write the script, with Reeves and The Batman producer Dylan Clark serving as executive producers alongside Farrell. “The world that Matt Reeves created for The Batman is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of O...

Produced by Emmy and Peabody award-winning Banger Films, “Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine” is a Crave original documentary that has been described as “a celebratory, exhilarating thrill ride through the history of one of rock’s most unsung acts.” The film covers TRIUMPH‘s humble beginnings as staples of the GTA circuit in the mid-’70s to their heyday as touring juggernauts, selling out arenas and stadiums all across North America with their legendary s...

The official Jaden D.-directed music video for the LP’s second single, “Look Inside”, can be seen below. Curran, having a “soft spot” for “Look Inside”, recalls the song’s creation: “I was in my studio late one night, headphones on… a few glasses of red wine deep and thought, wouldn’t it be fun to pull out my bass, blow up the tone, double it and play to a really messed up super slow drum groove. It’s got a real stoner vibe to it. That’s what happens when you mix wine and bass… Mission accomplished!” With the rough bed track and so...

He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “The thing is still, in a way, breaking news. What I have been thinking about is everybody at my [spoken-word] shows in Kyiv, no one’s life is what it was a month ago. And I think of all those people throughout the last several days, ’cause they’re either moving, they’re on their way somewhere or they’re panicked or they’re not having a great time today. And these are people — very friendly. I talked to a lot of them. They were waiting for me at the hot...

The upcoming film from Tom Gormican stars Cage as a fictionalized version of himself, who, after finding himself strapped for cash, agrees to take a $1 million dollar gig to attend the birthday party of his biggest fan, Javi (played by Pedro Pascal). As it turns out, Javi is a drug lord being investigated by a CIA agent (Tiffany Haddish), who ropes Cage into being an undercover operative. 5 Burning Questions the Final Episodes of Ozark Need to Answer

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Ozark, Season 4, Episode 7, “Sanctified.”] The first half of Ozark’s final season ended with a bang — two in fact: a shot to the chest and another to the head. There is no lack of shocking deaths in the show’s previous years, but the demise of Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery) and Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan) are being set up to be some of the most consequential. If nothing else, they represent just how quickly and violently the Byrdes schemes have gotten out of control. With Navarro in jail, Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy (Laura Linney) must learn how to navigate a new ruthless cartel leader, while Ruth (Julia Garner) is embarking on a grief-stricken revenge rampage that doesn’t bode well. The family money-laundering business is now involved...
