Rather than addressing the missing child in that Jacobs family photo, the future of Cassie and Maddy’s friendship, or the $8,000 Rue still owes to a bone-chilling drug dealer, Sam Levinson decided to dedicate almost four minutes of the disastrous Euphoria Season 2 finale to Dominic Fike singing. For the crowd who kept hitting fast-forward during that threadbare scene, Fike has given “Elliot’s Song” a proper release today. Believe it or not, the official studio version of “Elliot’s Song” is only two minutes and 30 seconds — shorter than the version Fike’s character sang to Zendaya’s Rue in Euphoria. But despite its limited runtime, “Elliot’s Song” still seems to trudge on for way too long, using platitudinous lyrics in a futile attempt to make us swoon: “I hope it was worth i...
Despite a long career as a voice actress, Aisha Tyler swears that she didn’t write one of the lead roles in her animated short for The Boys for herself. Yet she’s flawless casting as Nubia, one of the two superheroes featured in “Nubian vs Nubian,” the sixth short in the new animated anthology designed to keep The Boys fans happy until Season 3 premieres this June. All of the shorts in The Boys Presents: Diabolical take on unique aspects of life in this surreal universe overseen by executive producer Eric Kripke, utilizing different animation styles and some star-studded casts. In “Nubian vs Nubian,” Don Cheadle voices Nubian Prince, a superhero whose initial connection with fellow supe Nubia (Tyler) leads to marriage and a young daughter… and also the sorts of marriage issues that affect ...
It’s always fun to watch talented voice actors jump from character to character, which is what Andy Serkis did during a recent visit to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Despite doing press for his recent turn as Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman, Serkis humored Lord of the Rings megafan Colbert by impersonating several characters from Tolkein’s universe, including a very topical rendition of a Ukraine-invading Gollum. Explaining how he managed to voice 132 different characters in the Lord of the Rings audiobooks, Serkis used a prop microphone to mime the physicality of each of the characters. After shuffling through the likes of Gandolf and Elron, Serkis brought out the hobbit Gollum, who he famously voiced in the Lord of the Rings movies. “Gollum was on this...
