CRADLE OF FILTH Cancels Tour Of Russia Due To ‘Situation’ In Ukraine

British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH have canceled their previously announced shows in Russia following that country’s invasion of Ukraine last week. Earlier today, CRADLE OF FILTH frontman Dani “Filth” Davey released the following statement via social media: “As of today and due to the current situation unfurling in Ukraine, CRADLE OF FILTH have decided to cancel our forthcoming tour of Russia in June.” Dani also added a quote from philosopher Albert Camus: “Peace is the only battle worth waging”. On February 24, Russian president Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation” in Ukraine. Putin made the announcement during a televised early morning speech, peddling accusations of Nazi elements within Ukraine to justify th...

WARRIOR SOUL’s KORY CLARKE Blasts ‘Republican National Cult’, Says He Is ‘Happy’ To Be Living Outside U.S.

In a new interview with Jeff Gaudiosi of MisplacedStraws.com, WARRIOR SOUL frontman Kory Clarke was asked if living outside of the U.S. gives him a different perspective on this country and the stuff he sings about by looking at it from the outside rather than being in it. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Yeah, I guess you could say it does. It makes me happy that I’m not there. [Laughs] But I still feel completely connected in the sense that it’s such a global planet and the U.S. has got so much reach and so much influence over everything, I’ve gotta fight for what I believe is democracy. “[Some] people, honestly, want to have Hitler being their guy for a president,” he continued. “I guess people can vote Hitler in, if they want...

Karate Announce First Tour in 17 Years

Karate are headed out on tour for the first time in nearly two decades. The news comes after The Numero Group began reissuing the Boston-based indie rockers’ catalog on vinyl last year, driving renewed interest in the band’s eclectic fusion of emo, post-punk, post-hardcore, and jazz on albums like 1997’s In Place of Real Insight, 1998’s The Bed Is in the Ocean, and 2004’s Pockets. The band’s tour will kick off July 7th in their hometown of Boston — at The Sinclair in Cambridge, to be exact — before heading to Philadelphia’s World Cafe Live, Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, and Black Cat in Washington, DC. From there, the trek will move to the west coast, where Karate will wrap up the month of eight dates with shows in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco before closing things out Ju...

We have all sorts of different kinds of conversations about movies these days. As critics, we talk about a film’s quality as well as its place in cinema history, its technological achievements, and its impact on the cultural landscape. As fans, we talk about how a film made us feel, how it changed the way we personally look at the world around us. But with our friends and loved ones, especially those who haven’t seen most or any of this year’s nominees, they might have one key question as we urge them to check out our favorite films: How big of a bummer are they? It’s certainly the question that many people would like to have answered when sitting down with an unknown quantity like Drive My Car or CODA. Hence, this hopefully helpful guide, with all 10 Best Picture nominees ranked from leas...

Bruce Lee Band Eat the Rich with New Single “Did You Find the Money Farm?”: Stream

Bruce Lee Band, the ska project from Mike Park and Jeff Rosenstock, return today with their first new single of the year. “Did You Find the Money Farm?,” their collaboration with Fishbone’s Angelo Moore, arrives with a comical accompanying music video. It will appear on the group’s upcoming LP One Step Forward, Two Steps Back, out sometime this summer. “Did You Find the Money Farm?” is a scathing diss of those who profit most from late-stage capitalism. “You pattern your life after powerful people, follow the path through the door,” vocalist Mike Park sings, his snide critiques backed by the band’s menacing drums and horns. “One step inside and you’ll never look back, you ride on the backs of the poor.” But despite its somber message, the DIY-style video for “Did You Find the Money Fa...

Rivers Cuomo Announces Weezle, a Wordle for Weezer Fans

Rivers Cuomo has announced a new word game for Weezer fans. “If you like Wordle and Weezer, you’ll probably like Weezle,” the veteran songwriter wrote on Twitter today, March 3rd. Like Wordle, the viral sensation that was recently bought by The New York Times, Weezle gives players six cracks at guessing a five letter word, using color blocks to indicate the right letter in the right place (green), a correct letter in the wrong place (yellow), or a total miss (gray). While Cuomo hasn’t fully explained the word list, today’s Weezle is certainly Weezer-adjacent. Get it right and you’ll be treated to a Weezer song. You can play for yourself here. This is just the latest technological venture for Cuomo. In January he unveiled Weezify, a Spotify for Weezer fans that held over 3,500 demos. L...

GHOST Shares Lyric Video For New Single ‘Twenties’

Swedish occult rockers GHOST will release their fifth album, “Impera”, on March 11 via Loma Vista. The official lyric video for the LP’s latest single, “Twenties”, can be streamed below. With its messianic promises of reigns of pennies and piles of moolah set to an appropriately manic musical backdrop, the unrelenting and propulsive “Twenties” stands in stark contrast to its predecessor, the eerily hypnotic “Call Me Little Sunshine”. In fact, the apocalyptically prophetic vibe of “Twenties” — particularly its lyrical relevance to historical events unfolding on the world stage (however incidental) — render the song utterly unique in the GHOST canon. According to a press release, “Impera” “finds GHOST transpo...

MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP Announces ‘Universal’ Album

There are few rock guitarists on this planet who have had such a lasting influence on so many renowned musicians as Michael Schenker. With his outstandingly fluid style, inexhaustible wealth of ideas and instinctive feel for hooks and melodies, Michael Schenker is a living legend who, despite his longstanding and distinguished history, still impresses with his unflagging energy and drive. The blond stringsman from Sarstedt, Germany began his international career in the early 1970s with the SCORPIONS, achieved worldwide fame after joining British rock group UFO and then seamlessly continued his exceptional global success story under his own name, as well as with acts such as MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP (MSG for short), TEMPLE OF ROCK and MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST. Schenker and his career, which has ...

The Linda Lindas Unveil New Song “Talking to Myself”: Stream

Los Angeles teen punk band The Linda Lindas find strange company, or maybe none at all, on their new single “Talking to Myself” and its accompanying visual. The sharp pop-punk cut from the all-girl group — comprised of sisters Lucia (14) and Mila (11), cousin Eloise (13) and family-friend Bela (17) — rips right into feelings of loneliness and self-doubt that swirl together to create a never-ending spiral of human disconnection. Though singer-guitarist Lucia keeps circling around the “bad decisions” and “all the wrong directions” in the lyrics, she ultimately determines to find someone to help release the recurring thoughts from her head. In a statement, Lucia said, “I’m always looking back on conversations and going, ‘Oh, I should have said this, I should have said that.’ But it’s also abo...
