RATING: 8/10 Assuming you have been awake at some point over the last 30 years, you will probably be familiar with George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher. Reassuring proof that the best people transcend the music they make, Corpsegrinder is rightly acknowledged as one of the greatest death metal vocalists of all time, but also as one of the metal world’s good guys. You must, at all times, respect the neck. That much is obvious. What was perhaps less obvious was the need for Fisher to make a solo album. Enter the increasingly influential Jamey Jasta, fresh from reviving Dee Snider‘s career and clearly in the mood for another worthwhile project. “CORPSEGRINDER” is the result, and while it almost goes without saying that this is a relentlessly savage death metal rec...

Sony is continuing to make use of its Universe of Marvel Characters. According to Deadline, the studio has cast Fred Hechinger as Chameleon in the upcoming Kraven the Hunter. The White Lotus breakout will star alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title role, as well as Russell Crowe in an undisclosed role. Word is that much of the Kraven cast will be made up of the classic Spider-Man villain’s family (with Crowe likely playing his father), and that fits with Hechinger joining as Chameleon. In the comics, Chameleon is Dmitri Smerdyakov, Kraven’s half-brother. He’s a master of disguise and impressions, skills that allow him to assume the identity of nearly anyone he encounters. Some versions of the character have depicted him with scientifically enhanced powers and technology...

Two decades into their venerable careers, Baltimore death metal savants MISERY INDEX are back with a new album, “Complete Control”, which will be released worldwide on May 13 via Century Media Records. The LP was mixed by Will Putney and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street studios. The cover artwork was created by Matt Lombard. “Complete Control” is described in a press release as “a riff-driven assault that captures the tension of the modern condition and channels it into nine songs of ripping end-times death metal. Spewing with Orwellian invective and razor-sharp songwriting, ‘Complete Control’ is a much-needed hammer to the face; a wake-up call for the disaffected and dispossessed.” “Complete Control” track listing: 0...
