Sorry Not Sorry, It’s Foo Fighters Week

It is a truth universally acknowledged that if Dave Grohl moves even one finger, we sure as hell are going to write about it here at Consequence. Foo Fighters is the second most-written-about artist in the history of this site. Basically, we write about Grohl & Co. almost daily; the difference this time is that we’ve decided to formalize it as an actual week. Why are we like this, you may ask? Well, the running joke around here is that Grohl and his band keep the lights on, and we say that with the utmost gratitude and respect to that dude and his band. (Thank you for everything, Foos.) He makes headlines for doing good deeds, in addition to the usual rockstar stuff, and thus it is our jobs as humble scribes to give him attention on a regular basis. The run of shows, which was originally slated to take place in July 2020 and was later pushed back to May 2021, will now happen in March-April, 2022 at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. “We go to Vegas for nine shows, starting at the 26th of March until the middle of April,” he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “And we’re looking very much forward to that. It’s a new show, a new production, and it’s nice, for a change, that we don’t have to travel every other day, waking up every morning in different cities, different places, different countries and continents. So we stay for quite a while t...

ANNIHILATOR leader Jeff Waters has once again opened up about his battle with COVID-19, saying that it took him six months to “get [his] lungs back.” The 56-year-old guitarist/vocalist, who moved to the United Kingdom from his native Canada back in 2018, discussed his recent health issues in a new interview with Belgian Jasper. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I caught COVID in April 2020, in the beginning. I had a bad, nasty one. I didn’t get as far as my friend Will Carroll from DEATH ANGEL where I got put into an induced coma in a hospital, but I got pretty close there for 12 days. It was one of those ‘human sitting on your chest’ and when you breathe in and out, it sounded like a crackling fire, like a bad asthma attack. And I made it t...

He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I can talk about it. It’s no secret. And it actually had a role to play in recording the [STENFORS] album as well. When we decided we’re gonna do the album, everything was fine. But then, as soon as we started doing it, I got my diagnosis of prostate cancer. So that was, like, ‘Oooh. What’s gonna happen with the album then?’ [laughs] was first at mind. Well, anyway, it didn’t affect that at all — ex...

BRUCE DICKINSON Recalls Flying ROYAL AIR FORCE Pilots Home From Afghanistan: ‘It Was Very Emotional’

During his February 19 spoken-word show at Uptown Theater in Kansas City, Missouri, IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson recalled how he personally flew Royal Air Force pilots home from Afghanistan to RAF Wittering in 2008, taking control of a Boeing 747 chartered by the Ministry of Defence to transport RAF pilots back to the U.K. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “One of the jobs that we had at the airline I worked for, we had an airplane permanently allocated to the military to go and take people places — not to wars, but we’d take them to bases. And sometimes we flew people back. And sometimes we flew people back who had been in Afghanistan, for example, been in a war. They would go somewhere for two or three weeks to try and readjust and then we’d take them ...

Robert Fripp and Toyah Tackle Smashing Pumpkins’ “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”: Watch

King Crimson guitarist Robert Fripp and his singer wife Toyah Willcox are still giving fans plenty of ear (and eye) candy on Sundays, this time gracing us with a rendition of the Smashing Pumpkins classic “Bullet With Butterfly Wings.” It’s been a while since we’ve reported on the frisky couple’s “Sunday Lunch” series, but they’ve been going strong in 2022, mostly delivering covers of punk classics from The Clash, Ramones, and others over the past several weeks. For this weekend’s edition, the pair tackle the Pumpkins’ smash alt-rock hit with their usual musical and visual flair. Toyah’s risqué see-through top is par for the course for her Sunday performances, but in this case it’s not too far off what original Pumpkins bassist D’arcy Wretzky wore during the band’s 1998 tour in support of ...

KIX Guitarist RONNIE YOUNKINS Opens Up About His Battle With Alcoholism: ‘I’m Just Glad To Be Alive’

KIX guitarist Ronnie Younkins, who is unable to tour with the band because he has been placed under house arrest after repeatedly getting in trouble with the police, discussed his battle with alcoholism in a new interview with Adika Live!. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I’m just glad to be alive, and I’m glad that my daughter and my son and my wife talk to me. And I’m glad the guys in the KIX band still talk to me. “The message that I have to share is that if you get sobriety, do everything in your power to stay there because if you go back out… The disease of alcoholism and drug addiction is progressive. It’s categorized as a disease. And it’s potentially fatal. This is a disease that causes poor behavior, bad behavior, insane beha...

OBITUARY’s New Album Is ‘Done’ But Won’t Be Released ‘Until Europe Opens Up’

Drummer Donald Tardy of Florida death metallers OBITUARY has confirmed to Finland’s Chaoszine that the band has completed work on its long-awaited new studio album. Regarding the musical direction of the follow-up to 2017’s self-titled effort, he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It is fucking awesome. It is OBITUARY, absolutely 100 percent, meat and potatoes, but with Ken‘s [Andrews, lead guitar] influence and him being able to write a few songs with me on this one, he brings a much more old-school thrash metal feel. So it’s fresh, it’s killer, it’s exciting on some of those songs, but then also the meat and potatoes, there are some songs that are so heavy on this record, man. I’m so proud of it. I can’t wait for people to he...

Watch GEOFF TATE Sing QUEENSRŸCHE’s ‘Queen Of The Reich’ On MONSTERS OF ROCK Cruise

Fan-filmed video footage of Geoff Tate‘s performance aboard this year’s Monsters Of Rock cruise can be seen below. The show saw Tate playing many of QUEENSRŸCHE‘s biggest songs, including early classic “Queen Of The Reich”, which originally appeared on the band’s debut EP. Tate had previously expressed his reluctance to perform “Queen Of The Reich” at his live concerts, telling Rock Show Critique in a 2012 interview: “It’s funny, actually — a lot of people don’t know about that song. A lot of people don’t care about that song. It’s an early song that was written and it shows. It’s funny the reaction you get, because it’s a lot of blank stares. In fact, it’s the same stare you get when you play a...
