Euphoria Renewed for Season 3 at HBO

Looks like class will be in session at Euphoria High for at least one more school year, because HBO has renewed Euphoria for a third season. Sam Levinson’s award-winning teen drama is currently in the middle of its long-awaited second season, which premiered in January nearly 18 months after Season 1 finished airing in August of 2019. In her review of Season 2 for Consequence, Mary Siroky said series star Zendaya remains “the beating heart of the show” as Rue, while also applauding the likes of Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie, Angus Cloud’s Fezco, and Dominic Fike as newcomer Elliott. Netflix has dropped the trailer for its upcoming Kanye West documentary, jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy. In the new trailer, director Clarence “Coodie” Simmons focuses on his personal relationship with Ye, chronicling early predictions of his pal’s greatness as well as the dissolution of their friendship. “It felt like the bigger Kanye got, the further we grew apart,” he says. Steven Spielberg has cast David Lynch in his new film The Fabelmans, and according to Variety, the role is a “closely guarded secret.” This marks the first collaboration between the two filmmaking luminaries, and it couldn’t have come on a more personal project. The Fabelmans is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age tale about a Spielberg stand-in named Sammy Fabelman. Michelle Williams plays his mother, Paul Dano has been cast as his father, and Seth Rogen will step into the role of a favorite uncle. Spielberg has co-written the script with Tony Kushner, and it’s his first screenplay credit since A.I. Artificial Intelligence in 2001. Anna Fishko to Write New Orphan Black Sequel Series

Anna Fishko has been tapped to write and executive produce AMC’s new iteration of Orphan Black, Variety reports. First announced in 2019, the new Orphan Black is set not to reboot the original — which saw Tatiana Maslany star as Sarah Manning, leader of a pack of human clones — but to tell a new story within the same world. The exact plot of the sequel has yet to be revealed; perhaps it it will follow one of Manning’s “sisters.” John Fawcett and Graeme Manson created the original Orphan Black, which ran on BBC America from 2013 to 2017. Spotify reportedly removed 70 episodes of The Joe Rogan Experience on Friday evening, according to CNET. The episodes in question all pre-date 2019 and are unrelated to Rogan’s ongoing controversy over COVID-19 misinformation. Rather, the removal of at least some of these episodes was apparently due to racist or other derogatory language. The Boondocks Reboot Canceled at HBO Max

Cross The Boondocks off your list of upcoming television revivals. According to Deadline, HBO Max’s planned reboot of the animated series has been officially been canceled. Showrunner Aaron McGruder and Sony Pictures Animation first announced a Boondocks revival in 2019, and the show was supposed to premiere in Fall 2020 with a 50-minute special. Back then, McGruder said the two-season reboot would see Huey, Riley, and Granddad Freeman navigate an upper class Maryland community. Per usual, what seemed idyllic and harmonious would prove toxic and dangerous, as the tyrannical Uncle Ruckus would have imparted a neo-fascist regime on the suburban town.
