JON ZAZULA, Co-Founder of Legendary Metal Label MEGAFORCE RECORDS, Dies At 69
Megaforce Records founder Jon “Jonny Z” Zazula has died at the age of 69. He passed away earlier today (Tuesday, February 1) in Florida surrounded by his brother, daughters, granddaughters and friends, according to Variety. Jon‘s wife Marsha, with whom he founded Megaforce, passed away of cancer in January of last year. The Zazulas‘ daughter Rikki wrote on social media: ” The world lost a true legend today… Our Dad lived a life as fast, hard, heavy, powerful, and, impactful as the music he brought to the world. His passion and persistence fueled the careers of arguably the most influential metal bands, and, industry greats of a generation. EVANESCENCE’s ‘Bring Me To Life’ Video Surpasses One Billion Views On YouTube
EVANESCENCE‘s music video for the group’s breakthrough 2003 hit “Bring Me To Life” has surpassed one billion views on YouTube. The Philipp Stölzl-directed clip, which was uploaded to YouTube in December of 2009, was filmed in Romania in January 2003. It features singer Amy Lee in a night gown and barefoot, in her room, inside a tall building in the city at night. The rest of the band is playing on a higher floor of the building. The album version of “Bring Me to Life” — which featured guest vocals from Paul McCoy of 12 STONES — was included on the soundtrack of superhero film “Daredevil”. Cut Copy have announced they’re returning to North America for a spring 2022 tour across the US, Canada, and Mexico. Kicking off April 23rd at Morrison, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the jaunt will also make stops in cities like Austin, Toronto, Boston, Chicago, and Portland before wrapping up with an appearance at Just Like Heaven 2022 on May 21st. More than fifteen years after Bob Odenkirk and David Cross reinvented sketch comedy with their seminal program Mr. Show, they’ll reunite as rival cult leaders in Guru Nation, a scripted mockumentary series coming to Paramount+. Guru Nation was co-created by the two stars alongside Bob’s brother Bill Odenkirk, a veteran comedy writer with credits on The Simpsons, Futurama, and Disenchanted. Palberta’s Lily Konigsberg and Water From Your Eyes’ Nate Amos have formed a new band called My Idea. Their debut album, CRY MFER, will be released on April 22nd via Hardly Art. My Idea have a bit of a chaotic origin story, and CRY MFER is no different. Konigsberg and Amos first teamed up in fall 2020, when the former sought the latter out to produce her solo record. Soon enough, their relationship became more collaborative — and toxic. “We definitely were like, oh, maybe we’re in love?” Konigsberg recalled in a statement. Dave Matthews Band have revealed the details for their annual summer tour of North America. Spanning 46 dates in total, DMB’s 2022 summer tour includes multiple nights at Alpine Valley in East Troy, WI; Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford, NH; Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY; Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village, CO; and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
