ALICE COOPER Is Working On Two New ‘Entirely Different’ Kinds Of ‘Hard Rock Albums’

During an appearance on this past Thursday’s (January 27) episode of SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk”, legendary rocker Alice Cooper confirmed that he is putting together ideas for the follow-up to last year’s “Detroit Stories” LP. “I’m working on two albums right now, actually — two studio albums,” he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “And all I can say is that one is written — totally written — and we’ll be doing bed tracks for that one pretty soon. And then the other one is just a touch in the future, but that’s being written right now too. They’re two entirely different kinds of albums, but they’re Alice Cooper pure rock and roll albums. The two albums will really be hard rock a...

Ex-SKID ROW Drummer PHIL VARONE Says SEBASTIAN BACH Is ‘In A War With Himself’

Former SKID ROW drummer Phil Varone has once again responded to ex-SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach‘s claim that Varone‘s decision to pose nude for an Playgirl is “further proof that the name ‘SKID ROW‘ has completely lost all credibility, cool, accuracy and is now devoid of all meaning in every way.” Varone, who was one of eight patients featured on the “Celebrity Rehab” spin-off series “Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew”, was featured on the cover of Playgirl more than a decade ago. The publication, which included a 16-page spread on Varone, hit newsstands in December 2010. A short time after Varone‘s appearance in Playgirl was announced, Bach took to his Twitter to write: “[This is] further proof that the name ‘SKID ROW&#...

Action, Murder, Musical and Romance: The Afterparty Cast and Creator on the Art of Genre-Bending

Technically, The Afterparty is one show, a murder mystery in the style of Agatha Christie that tracks what happens when the celebration following a high school reunion becomes the site of tragedy for an obnoxious pop singer (Dave Franco). But it also could be said to be many different shows, as every member of the all-star cast, including Sam Richardson, Zoë Chao, Ben Schwartz, Ike Barinholtz, Ilana Glazer, and Jamie Demetriou, is a suspect, and as Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) interviews them, their version of events mimics a popular genre of entertainment. Each episode thus focuses on one genre, from rom-com to action movie to musical and more, as meticulously recreated by creator Chris Miller, which he says evolved organically out of his original concept for the series. SAXON’s BIFF BYFORD: ‘I Don’t Think Guys Like Me Retire’

In a new interview with Ruben Mosqueda of Photo Concerto, SAXON frontman Biff Byford was asked if he can picture himself retiring in the not-too-distant future. He responded (as transcribed by BLABBBERMOUTH.NET): “No, retirement is not really [something I think about] at all, really. That word, I don’t really relate to it much, because if I retired, I’d be doing something with music. I don’t think guys like me retire.” The 71-year-old singer continued: “You get bands that retire, then, like, six months later the singer brings out a solo album. He’s not really retiring, is he? Retiring a band and retiring yourself, I suppose it’s totally different, isn’t it?” Four years ago, Byford dismissed Jay Jay French as “a silly little ...

Carlson’s documentary crew is joining Kid Rock on his 2022 “Bad Reputation” Tour, which kicks off this March, vaccine mandates be damned. Corey Taylor to Machine Gun Kelly: Don’t “Talk Shit” About “Bands That Have Been Doing This for 20 F**king Years”

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has shared a further explanation about his beef with Machine Gun Kelly, telling a crowd on the recent ShipRocked cruise that the rapper turned pop-punk singer doesn’t get to “f**king run [his] mouth about bands that have been doing this for 20 f**king years.” As we previously detailed in a comprehensive timeline of the feud between Taylor and Machine Gun Kelly, the bad blood seemed to start when Taylor apparently referenced MGK during an early 2021 interview, saying, “I [hate] the artists who failed in one genre and decided to go rock — and I think he knows who he is.” Machine Gun Kelly then called out Taylor and Slipknot when both acts were playing Chicago’s Riot Fest at the same time on different stages. “You all want to know what I’m happy that I’m not doi...

CLIFF BURTON Was ‘So Nervous’ When GEDDY LEE Came To See METALLICA Perform

As part of METALLICA‘s 40th-anniversary celebrations, the band’s longtime photographer Ross Halfin was the subject of a 90-minute question-and-answer session with Steffan Chirazi, the editor of METALLICA‘s fan-club magazine So What!, on December 18, 2021 at Elk’s Lodge in San Francisco, California. Ostensibly to discuss Halfin‘s book documenting METALLICA‘s “Black” album era — “Metallica: The Black Album In Black & White” — the conversation also looked back over Halfin‘s career, focusing on his decades of work with the band. METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett dropped in for a chat too, and the audience chipped in with several questions of their own. Reflecting on one of METALLICA‘s early tours, Hammett said: “G...
