When a hairy, scary spider climbs up the water spout, count on Jeff Daniels to wipe that spider out. He did just that in the 1990 horror comedy Arachnophobia, and he’ll continue doing so in spirit as tarantobelus jeffdanielsi, a tarantula-killing worm recently discovered by scientists at the University of California, Riverside. Tarantobelus jeffdanielsi is a type of nematode, or roundworm, of which there are more than 25,000 described species. But via Science Daily, this is only the second such nematode known to specifically infect tarantulas. “His character in [Arachnophobia] is a spider killer, which is exactly what these nematodes are,” said parasitologist Adler Dillman, who led the team that discovered the nematode. OTEP, the band led by singer, poet, illustrator, author and activist Otep Shamaya, has canceled its previously announced “Sermons Of Fire” U.S. tour which was scheduled to kick off next month. Earlier today, Shamaya issued the following statement: “My Real Ones, it is with a heavy heart that I write this to you. As you know, it’s been 3 years since I’ve toured the U.S. and performed for all of you and I have been anxiously awaiting for the moment where we could all be together again, to make new memories and give you the best show possible. However, many of you know that I have l lung issues due to chronic bronchitis as a child and with the surge of the Omicron variant, how rapid it’s spreading and the inconsistencies with state guidelines and mandates, ...
RATING: 8/10 With a genuinely astonishing and vast catalogue of releases to their legendary name, BORIS have earned the right to be regarded as underground legends. The Japanese band’s method and madness, perpetually intertwined, have led to some truly groundbreaking moments over the last 30 years: from the strung-out doom experiment of “Absolutego” to more accessible but equally out-there standouts like “Boris At Last -Feedbacker-“, “Pink” and “Smile”, BORIS have been very generous towards those who like to lose themselves in the mind-expanding magic of manipulated sound and overdriven guitars. In many ways, “W” feels like a particularly inviting and digestible addition to the BORIS canon. The band’s ongoing dalliance...
MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil played his second concert of 2022 this past Saturday night (January 15) at Lawrenceburg Event Center in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below. The Lawrenceburg show marked Neil‘s third live appearance since he reportedly broke his ribs while performing with his solo band at the Monsters On The Mountain festival at LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on October 15. Fan-filmed video of that gig showed the 60-year-old rocker walking to the front of the stage with his guitar strapped around him. He encouraged the crowd to clap along while playing the 1989 MÖTLEY CRÜE hit “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)” when he suddenly fell and dropped out of the camera’s view almost instantly....

Hollywood’s cringiest couple is back with more vomit-inducing romantic lore. In a new interview with Vogue, Machine Gun Kelly said he designed Megan Fox’s engagement ring to have thorns on it so that “if she tries to take it off, it hurts.” “It’s a thoroughbred Colombian emerald, with no treatment,” MGK (born Colson Baker) said of Fox’s Stephen Webster-designed, admittedly gorgeous ring. “It was just carved into the teardrop, straight out of the mine. And the diamond was directly from Stephen. The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart. And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts…Love is pa...

Eddie Van Halen‘s ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli, who is promoting her new book, “Enough Already: Learning To Love The Way I Am Today”, has told Washington Post Live in a new interview that her bond with the legendary VAN HALEN guitarist only grew stronger in the years before his death. “He was angry at me for a few years when I first left — he was very angry at me,” she said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “I think a lot of people saw that on [VAN HALEN‘s] 2004 tour. “I don’t know how else to say it except I felt like the love we had for each other was deeper than just marital love or sexual love,” she continued. “I loved him deeply through my soul, and I felt that same thing from him. “It seemed like he spent that ...
Outspoken rocker Ted Nugent has praised “dirtbag” Bruce Springsteen for always hiring the best musicians to help him deliver his songs live in concert. Springsteen can best be described as Nugent‘s political polar opposite, having been a vocal opponent to former U.S. president Donald Trump on many occasions. In August 2020, Bruce went as far as to allow the use of his song “The Rising” in a video that aired during night one of the Democratic National Convention. Ted, who is widely considered to be one of the most politically conservative musicians in rock, weighed in on The Boss during an appearance on the January 18 episode of “That Jamieson Show”. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “You couldn’t get further apart ideologica...
