White Lung on the Journey to Their Final Album, Premonition

On Friday (December 2nd), White Lung will make their anticipated return with Premonition. It’s the punk act’s first album since 2016’s Paradise, but the new material comes with bittersweet news for fans: Premonition will be the end of White Lung. Premonition’s journey to see the light of day and the decision for it to be the band’s swan song are years in the making. The writing and recording process started back in 2017, not long after Paradise. But life unfolded, and the original 2020 release date proved to be, we’ll say, less than ideal, resulting in the project getting pushed. The elongated period of time between the album’s conception and its unveiling eventually cemented what the band had already begun to suspect; this is White Lung’s goodbye. “When all this happened with the pan...

Actually Kanye West Will Not Be Buying Parler

Kanye West‘s agreement to purchase Parler has been called off, according to a statement from the parent company of the right-wing social media platform. “In response to numerous media inquiries, Parlement Technologies would like to confirm that the company has mutually agreed with Ye to terminate the intent of sale of Parler,” the company wrote. “This decision was made in the interest of both parties in mid-November.” Parler advertises itself as “the world’s pioneering uncancelable free speech platform,” and West sought to buy it after his Twitter and Instagram accounts were restricted for writing, among other things, that he’d go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” Advertisement Related Video “In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be contr...

9-Year-Old Girl Plays 15-Song Tool Medley on Guitar Gifted to Her by Adam Jones: Watch

Nine-year-old music protege Maya Neelakantan was gifted a signature Gibson Les Paul by Adam Jones and promptly put it to use, recording a 15-song Tool medley. Not unlike Nandi Bushell, Neelakantan has become a YouTube phenom thanks to her gifted guitar skills. You may remember her 15-minute playthrough of Tool’s “7empest” earlier this year — a feat so impressive, it apparently caught the attention of Adam Jones himself. A couple months ago, the Tool guitarist bequeathed one of his prized signature model Gibson Les Paul guitars to Neelakantan, who shared the surprise moment in a heartwarming unboxing video. The gift must have inspired the young virtuoso to learn even more Tool songs. Advertisement Earlier this week, Neelakantan uploaded the aforementioned 15-song Tool medley played with the...

Indiana Jones 5 Trailer Pits Deaged Harrison Ford Against Nazis: Watch

Disney and LucasFilm have offered the first trailer for the upcoming Indiana Jones 5, which is officially titled Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The newly revealed trailer offers a glimpse at a de-aged Harrison Ford, going toe-to-toe against a familiar adversary: Nazis. Though it’s not explicit in the trailer, the upcoming film will center around the space race between the United States and Soviet Union in 1969. “The simple fact is that the moon-landing program was run by a bunch of ex-Nazis,” co-screenwriter Jez Butterworth recently explained. “How ‘ex’ they are is the question. And it gets up Indy’s nose.” The film’s main villain Voller, played by Mads Mikkelsen, is based on Nazi scientist/eventual NASA engineer Wernher von Braun. Based on the trailer, it looks as if Indy and Voll...

Robinson handles the bulk of the acting himself, often playing angry losers who double-down instead of backing down, creating an escalating vortex of misery for innocent bystanders or the occasional celebrity guest star like Patti Harrison, Sam Richardson, Will Forte, or Bob Odenkirk. I Think You Should Leave was renewed for a third season last May. While Netflix noted that production on the newest season “has officially started,” it did not include ad...

Vinnie Paul’s Estate Insists “There Can Never Be a Pantera Reunion” but Supports Upcoming Tour

The estate of the late Vinnie Paul has issued a statement in support of Pantera’s upcoming shows. However, the statement refrained from calling the band’s reformation a “reunion.” This past summer, news broke that the surviving classic members of Pantera — singer Philip Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown — were joining forces with guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante to play select dates and festivals as Pantera. At the time, Billboard reported that the estates of Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell had given it the go-ahead. On Wednesday (November 30th), Vinnie’s estate posted the following message on Facebook, clarifying its stance on the matter with a pointed first sentence, but an overall positive attitude toward the upcoming shows: “There can never be a Pantera reunion with...

G.G. Allin Biopic Set from Lords of Chaos Director Jonas Åkerlund

G.G. Allin, the combustible punk provocateur who shocked live audiences with defecation and self-mutilation before dying of a heroin overdose in 1993 at the age of 36, will be the subject of a new biopic from Lords of Chaos director Jonas Åkerlund. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, G.G. Allin: Live. Fast. Die. will tell the true story “of what happens to a borderline personality when the reach for fame exceeds the limits of talent… when substance abuse goes unchecked and mental illness undiagnosed and untreated… and when a fictional character takes over a real person’s life, driving GG beyond limits anyone could possibly endure.” The biopic will be produced by Don Murphy and Susan Monford of Angry Films and MVD Entertainment Group, with a script by Richard...

Julia Jacklin Covers Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” at Madrid Show: Watch

Ever since we talked to Julia Jacklin last August about her love for Céline Dion, we’ve been patiently waiting to hear her sing the Canadian crooner’s stone-cold classic “My Heart Will Go On.” Our prayers were answered last night, as Jacklin finally covered the Titanic anthem at her show in Madrid. Jacklin would probably agree that nobody can belt quite like Dion, but with backing vocals from her tour support Erin Rae, the Aussie’s rendition of “My Heart Will Go On” is gorgeous in its own right. They even go for the key change! And we’d bet Jacklin has been thinking about covering the song for a while, considering how much she fawned over Dion in her interview with Consequence: “If someone is shit-talking Céline Dion, I’m like, ‘What do you find joy in?’” she said. “I’m not...

5 Things to Know About Samara Joy, Best New Artist Nominee at 2023 Grammys

When the 2023 Grammys take place, all eyes will be on the Best New Artist category, which, as always, operates with a loose definition of “new.” However, nominee Samara Joy — whose 2022 album Linger Awhile is also in the running for Best Jazz Vocal Album — is a true breakout artist. At 23 years old, Joy is one of the youngest musicians among the nominees, and her career is just beginning to blossom. This year, Joy emerged as a growing figure in the jazz scene; Linger Awhile, her debut album on Verve Records, arrived in September. In recent years, she’s also earned acclaim from celebs like Regina King and LaKeith Lee Stanfield, and has garnered millions of likes on TikTok. The Bronx native will be competing against Anitta, Omar Apollo, Domi & JD Beck, Muni Long, Lotto, Måneskin, To...
