Cat Power released her new album Covers at the stroke of midnight on Friday. Stream it below via Apple Music and Spotify. As its rather succinct title makes clear, the LP finds the indie rock stalwart covering the songbooks of other musicians, from Frank Ocean (lead single “Bad Religion”) and the Pogues (“A Pair of Brown Eyes”) to Kitty Wells (“It Wasn’t God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels”), Lana Del Rey (“White Mustang”), and even Billie Holiday (tender album closer “I’ll Be Seeing You,” which serves as a tribute to the late French producer Philippe Zdar). “Performing covers is a very enjoyable way to do something that feels natural to me when it comes to making music,” Powers explained in a statement back in October when she first released her take on Ocean’s Channel Orange-era 2012 track. Jack White Releases New Single “Love Is Selfish”: Stream
Jack White is gearing up to release two new albums in the coming months: a “really hard” rock record called Fear of the Dawn and a “very mellow” acoustic LP titled Entering Heaven Alive. Today, he’s shared the first track from the latter album with “Love Is Selfish.” Take a listen to the tender ballad below. Fear of the Dawn — which White previewed with the ferocious rocker “Taking Me Back” — arrives first on April 8th. Entering Heaven Alive follows on July 22nd. To support both releases, White will head out on an extensive tour beginning in April. The untitled feature film is being produced by Lamar and Dave Free under their media company pgLang. Stone and Parker are on board as co-producers, and Paramount Pictures will handle the film’s theatrical and home distribution. Today, Netflix has announced Murderville, a six-episode comedy series starring Will Arnett as Terry Seattle, a senior homicide detective who enlists the help of some celebrity guests. The catch?
