Kanye West to Outdo Himself by Meeting with Vladimir Putin

Kanye West — now officially known as Ye — is yet again proving himself to be one of the most puzzling pop culture figures by expanding his work into Russia. According to a Billboard report, the rapper, fashion mogul, and flagrant hot mess is expanding his ventures to Moscow, where he plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin later in the year and hold some of his questionable Sunday Service performances. Depending on his schedule, Ye will head for Russia this spring or summer. His strategic advisor Ameer Sudan and attorney Scott Balber are currently acting as liaisons between Ye and Azerbaijani-Russian billionaire real estate developer Aras Agalarov (as well as his son, Emin), who is a client of Balber’s. Though Ye’s exact endeavors are still under wraps, Sudan told Billboard tha...

Steve Harvey Says He Won’t Do Standup Because Cancel Culture Won’t Let Him Be Funny

During a Television Critics Association panel on Tuesday, Steve Harvey said he had no interest in returning to standup because cancel culture would either prevent him from being funny or end his television career. (Via Deadline.) Harvey opined on the state of comedy while promoting Judge Steve Harvey, a new reality show in which he pretends to be a legal adjudicator for people’s problems. “We’re in the cancel culture now,” he told the assembled critics. “No standup [comedian] alive that is sponsor-driven can say anything he wants to. Chris Rock can’t. Kevin Hart can’t. Cedric the Entertainer can’t. D.L. Hughley can’t. I can go down the list. The only person that can say what they want to say on stage is Dave Chappelle because he’s not sponsor-driven, he’s subscription-d...

The bassist uploaded the one-minute clip to his Instagram earlier today (Tuesday, January 11) and included the following message: “I’m just tryin’ to get my groove on. @chloetrujillo #groovy #jamsession”. Trujillo, who was born on October 23, 1964 in Santa Monica, California, tasted success as the bassist in punk-funk pioneers SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and Ozzy Osbourne‘s band. But in 2003, he successfully auditioned to replace Jason Newsted in METALLICA, a process chronicled in the warts-and-all documentary “Some Kind of Monster”. METALLICA‘s much-loved former bassist Cliff Burton died in 1986 when the band’s tour bus crashed travelling through Sweden on the “...

I made it through 7 weeks without incident and then I began to see a slight shadow again in my eye. Naomi Review: Ava DuVernay Brings a New Type of Superhero Story to the CW

The Pitch: Naomi lives inside the difference between an origin story and a coming-of-age story. The CW’s newest superhero story features Kaci Walfall as the titular teenager, who was already living a pretty interesting life before the possibility that she might have superpowers became a possibility. Based on the first two episodes, the first season (which won’t be crossing over with the rest of the Arrow-verse) is set up to offer an extended look at Naomi’s dawning realization of her own abilities, while also contending with the day-to-day realities of being a modern-day teenager. The show’s success is dependent on how much you want to see both of those elements play out, but thanks to Walfall’s charismatic performance, Naomi’s story proves easy to connect with. Not Your Ordinary Teen Supe...
