Original BULLETBOYS guitarist Mick Sweda, who recently exited the band, along with drummer Jimmy D’Anda, discussed his departure from the group in a new interview with Waste Some Time With Jason Green. Asked if he informed singer Marq Torien about his decision to exit the group after BULLETBOYS‘ canceled December 16 concert at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California — a gig that went ahead as a Torien solo performance — Mick said: “I think that [Marq] pretty much expected that that was gonna happen. Who’s to say that this wasn’t part of a plan, in the beginning, that at the first opportunity he was going to find a way to go back to having his subservient musicians playing. I don’t know. It’s hard to say. And frankly, it doesn’t inter...
According to Rolling Stone, METALLICA and TOOL are among the artists who have have recruited dogs specially trained to sniff for traces of COVID-19 in members of their crew, entourage or anyone else who gets backstage. METALLICA hired an Ohio-based firm, Bio Detection K9, for its fall shows in Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta and also at the band’s 40th anniversary gigs in San Francisco last month. “So far, knock on wood, the dogs have been knocking it out of the park,” says John Peets of Q Prime, the management company that represents METALLICA. “We haven’t had a dog miss anybody.” Bio Detection K9 has been in the business of using dogs to detect viruses, bacteria, and fungus for over a decade in partnership with the US Department of Agriculture and other go...
DISTURBED‘s David Draiman has blasted people who compare COVID-19 vaccination requirements to the Holocaust. The 48-year-old Hawaii-based singer, who is Jewish, took to his social media earlier today (Sunday, January 9) to write: “People who compare having to have proof of vaccination to get in a restaurant to the Holocaust are cordially invited to go fuck themselves.” A number of right-wing politicians and conservative media pundits worldwide have comparisons to the Holocaust, saying society’s widening exclusions of the unvaccinated was headed down a similar path taken by Nazi Germany between 1941 and 1945 when an estimated six million Jewish people were killed during World War II. Draiman is not the only hard rock or heavy metal musician to speak out against compa...

Lang was one of the chief architects of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. Taking place over four days in August at a family farm in Bethel, New York, the festival welcomed nearly half a million attendees to watch performances from Jimi Hendrix, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Band, Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Who, Santana, and more. The Pitch: HBO’s provocative teen drama returns on Sunday, January 9th, and while plenty of things have changed for the characters in this neon-soaked, nightmarish dreamscape of Southern California, so much is still the same. That’s the thing about addiction, isn’t it? It’s a cycle that’s very, very hard to break. But we as the audience are once again in the hands of young addict Rue as our omniscient narrator, who continues to be lovingly brought to life by Zendaya, the youngest person ever to win an Emmy for Best Actress for a Drama Series. Still Don’t Know Her Name: “I don’t think I’m a good person.” Repeated like a refrain, delivered like a prayer, this sentence is a concise summary of many of the central struggles in Season 2 of Euphoria. To that end, things pick up in fairly familiar...
An Indianapolis man attempted to jump the line at a Doja Cat concert Saturday, January 8th, by telling those around him that he had a bomb in his backpack, police said. Doja Cat performed at the AT&T Playoff Live concert in downtown Indianapolis that coincided with the College Football Playoff National Championship set for Monday. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer William Young told the IndyStar that the man made the threat around 5 p.m., just as concert goers began to enter the concert at Monument Circle. Police cleared the crowd for about 20 minutes and searched the man, who did not, in fact, have a bomb. He remains in custody as police continue to investigate. “A fan wanted to advance in line so he exercised very poor judgment and told those around him in line he h...
Superhero flicks are notoriously shrouded in mystery prior to release, but as Matt Reeves’ The Batman approaches its March 4th premiere, more details about the film have begun to emerge. Over the weekend, Warner Bros. shared new photos from the film, including closer looks at two of Batman’s biggest foes, Paul Dano’s Riddler and Colin Farrell’s Penguin. Dano’s Riddler gives off a Zodiac-killer vibe in this Batman adaptation, dressed head to toe in army green and covered up with a terrifying mask Penguin, meanwhile, maintains his classic purple suit. Other new photos show the villains in action, as the maniacal Riddler wields some duct tape and the Gentleman of Crime consults his paperwork. It’s not a lot to go on, but it’s still fun to see. Check out the press images below. Beyon...
Michael Lang, a musical concert promoter, producer and artistic manager who is best known as the official producer of Woodstock Music Art Festival in 1969, died Saturday night (January 8) at the age of 77. Lang died of complications from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma at Sloan Kettering hospital in New York City, a representative said. In 1968, after promoting a series of concert events in the Miami area, Lang (together with Marshall Brevetz) produced the 1968 Miami Pop Festival, which drew around 25,000 people on its first day with acts such as Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, John Lee Hooker, Arthur Brown and BLUE CHEER. After he moved to Woodstock, New York, and met Artie Kornfeld, a respected recording artist and composer, the two developed the concept for a major festival event to celebrate t...
We’ve all heard of dogs trained to sniff for drugs and explosives, but a number of musicians are enlisting the help of dogs specifically trained to sniff out COVID-19 to ensure their upcoming tours go off without a hitch. Rolling Stone reports out that artists and bands including Eric Church, Tool, Metallica, and The Black Keys have employed olfactorily-gifted canines to take a whiff of everybody in their band and crew. If the dogs detect the virus, they notify the respective parties by sitting down. While we’re not exactly sure what scientific benefits dogs hold over rapid antigen tests (aside from cuteness), they’re managed by Ohio-based agency Bio-Detection K9, who claim their pups were “98-99% accurate in double blinded validation studies using clinical samples and actual humans.”...
Guitar-shredding virtuoso George Lynch has reteamed with former DOKKEN bandmate Jeff Pilson for a set of new studio recordings that turn pop music classics into powerful metal anthems.
