GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Slash says that “there were a lot of different issues” that prevented Izzy Stradlin from being involved with the band’s reunion tour. While GUNS N’ ROSES‘ “Not In This Lifetime” trek features the “classic era” lineup of Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and singer Axl Rose — with the occasional guest appearance by drummer Steven Adler — Stradlin has not taken part in any shows on the tour, with unconfirmed reports claiming that he turned down a five-figure fee to play with GUNS N’ ROSES at the April 2016 reunion shows. Now, in a new interview with Classic Rock magazine, Slash has offered more information on the circumstances that led to Izzy‘s absence from the trek. When Classic Rock writer Paul Ellio...

Lots of weird, wild, and scary stuff has happened over the course of the first two seasons of superhero action dramedy The Boys (that poor whale), but there’s nothing quite as scary as Homelander (Antony Starr) smiling. That’s what gets put front and center in this first look footage from Season 3, which Amazon Prime Video announced Friday will premiere this June. Per the official YouTube description, “Payback’s coming June 3rd.” Season 2 of the series ended with neo-Nazi superhero Stormfront (Aya Cash) getting pulverized but Homelander remaining, in the eyes of the public, a big damn hero. And while Starlight (Erin Moriarty) is also back in the public’s good graces (not to mention her original, less-revealing supersuit), she’s more than aware that behind the blinding grin we see in this t...
Apple is cooking up some breakfast at Tiffany’s. Per Deadline, Apple Studios is developing a biopic on the life and career of Audrey Hepburn with Rooney Mara starring as the iconic actress. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo star will also serve as a producer on the film, while Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name) is set to direct. Michael Mitnick, who wrote for Martin Scorcese and Mick Jagger’s short-lived HBO series Vinyl, will pen the biopic’s screenplay. After cutting her teeth as a chorus girl on London’s West End, Hepburn shot to instant stardom with her first leading film role in 1953’s Roman Holiday, which earned her an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA Award. She went on to become a legend in the Golden Age of Hollywood, with iconic roles in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, My Fair L...
Guns N’ Roses released two new songs last year, and there’s more where that came from. In a new interview, Slash revealed that the legendary rock band will continue to release new material until a full album is completed. And fans won’t have to wait long. “There’s new Guns material coming out as we speak, and we’ll probably keep putting it out until the entire record’s worth of stuff is done and then put it out solid,” Slash told Classic Rock magazine. “It’s cool. I’m enjoying working on the stuff and having a good time doing it.” Related Video The guitarist rightly projected a 2021 release for Guns N’ Roses’ most recent singles: “Absurd” and “Hard Skool.” Both originated from the Chinese Democracy era, but were reworked by the band’s current lineup — particularly the guitar parts. JUDAS PRIESTs’ Rob Halford is celebrating the 36th anniversary of his getting sober. The 70-year-old singer posted a photo of his AA sobriety medallion, which has the words “to thine own self be true” and “unity, service and recovery” engraved around the roman numeral for 36. He wrote: “‘One day at a time 36 years thank you for your love you mean the world to me’ #heavymetal #ink #sober #birthday #today #love #family #friends #fans #one #world #peace #respect #all”. Halford recently spoke to Spain’s Mariskal Rock about how he has managed and avoided the urge to relapse since 1986. “I think about it all the time,” he said about drinking alcohol. “It’s an addiction. When I’m watching the Phoenix Cardina...
Former GUNS N’ ROSES and current SIXX:A.M. guitarist DJ Ashba says that he played all the rhythm guitars on MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s “Saints Of Los Angeles” album. The 49-year-old musician and producer, who is credited as a songwriter on all but two of “Saints Of Los Angeles”‘s 13 tracks, discussed the extent of his involvement with the record during an appearance on SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk” earlier this week. When host Eddie Trunk asked Ashba about the session work he has done over the years, including recordings he might have done as a “ghost” musician on albums hard rock and heavy metal fans might be familiar with, DJ responded “MÖTLEY,” referencing “Saints Of Los Angeles”, before addi...
Original BULLETBOYS guitarist Mick Sweda, who recently exited the band, along with drummer Jimmy D’Anda, discussed his departure from the group in a new interview with “This That & The Other With Troy Patrick Farrell”. Speaking about why the reunion of BULLETBOYS‘ original lineup didn’t last more than two years, Sweda said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “You go into these things with what I’d describe as hope but it’s kind of qualified hope. You know that there’s a shelf life, you know that there’s a ‘use by’ date, or at least ‘best use by’ date, and you just hope it doesn’t come too soon. And for me, frankly, it came too soon. I was really looking forward to the year and all the shows we h...

Burial has released his new EP ANTIDAWN via Hyperdub. Stream it below on Apple Music and Spotify. The five-song collection contains lengthy ambient tracks titled “Strange Neighbourhood,” “Shadow Paradise,” “New Love,” “Upstairs Flat,” and, of course, “Antidawn” — two of which clock in at over 10 minutes apiece. “ANTIDAWN reduces Burial’s music to just the vapours,” read a statement from the British musician’s record label ahead of the EP’s release. “The record explores an interzone between dislocated, patchwork songwriting and eerie, open-world game space ambience. In the resulting no man’s land, lyrics take precedence over song, lonely phrases colour the haze, a stark and fragmented structure makes time slow down.” Related Video Hyperdub went on to explain that Burial is “tell[ing] a stor...
The Pitch: There is a certain sub-genre of films, largely action films, that belong to a very specific time and place — an idyllic lazy Saturday afternoon, that post-lunch or brunch drowsiness kicking in as you nestle into your couch at home, searching for something to watch that won’t require too much effort to engage with on your part. The kind of movie you might watch with your dad over the holidays, just because it’s on cable. What The 355 offers up is a perfect Saturday afternoon dad movie, but instead of starring Stallone or Eastwood or Bronson, it stars five women with six Oscar nominations and two wins between them. (And was written by the creator of NBC’s Smash!) Approached with those sorts of low expectations, the new action drama starring Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Penélo...
Former FOZZY drummer Frank Fontsere has opened up about his departure from the band, saying he no longer wanted to spend time away from home. Fontsere‘s exit from FOZZY was officially announced this past Monday (January 3). The band also named his replacement, former THROUGH FIRE drummer Grant Brooks. Earlier today, Frank took to his Instagram to write: “Hello, As you may have already heard, I have decided to step down as the drummer for FOZZY. This was a very painful decision to make even though it was the correct one. Getting on stage with guys I love and making music I love is something I will miss terribly. I will also miss getting to meet and interact with all the wonderful people who came to see us over the years. FOZZY has the best fans in the world. “I want to tak...
