After a failed run for US Senate in his adopted state of Pennsylvania, Dr. Oz has been met with resistance in his effort to revive his old TV show. The celebrity doctor has even been turned back for “a daily gig” by right-wing networks like Fox News and Newsmax, reports Radar Online. According to Radar Online, Oz has been “beating the bushes to revive his health-oriented talk show and groveling to everyone he knows to give him a break, but he’s not making much progress.” Not only that, but he “can’t even get a word” with his former producers. Though Oz has apparently “impressed” executives at Fox News and Newsmax, he wasn’t able to land any “firm offers.” Instead, he’s expected to make his return to TV with “small roles” on the networks. The Pitch: It’s been quite a time for super-serious sci-fi and fantasy epics, as anyone who’s attempted to keep up with House of the Dragon, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Sandman, and many, many other shows will tell you. But here comes Disney+’s Willow, with a modern rock song in its heart, a young hot ensemble ready to jump into action, and its own take on swords and sorcery to share. Willow? You Mean Three-Time MTV Video Music Award Nominee Willow, Don’t You? Okay, as a longtime fan of the 1988 film Willow, a person who has spent a lifetime yelling “What do you mean, you haven’t seen Willow?” at people… I know that there’s a good chance that most people are not familiar with the original Ron Howard-directed fantasy adventure. So here’s the deal: In the original movie (w...
The Avengers star Samuel L. Jackson responded to his Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino’s recent comments about the the “Marvel-ization of Hollywood” during an appearance on the November 29th episode of The View. Per EW, Jackson challenged his longtime collaborator’s claim that Marvel actors are not movie stars by pointing to the late Chadwick Boseman. “It takes an actor to be those particular characters, and the sign of movie stardom has always been, what, asses in seats? What are we talking about?” said Jackson, who has been a lynchpin in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Nick Fury since 2008. “That’s not a big controversy for me to know that apparently these actors are movie stars. Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther. You can’t refute that, and he’s a movie star.” Jac...

Here’s a feel-good video for your Tuesday: The Rock visited the 7-11 he used to frequent in his days growing up in Hawaii and bought out all of their Snickers bars to make up for all of the times he stole from the convenience store in his youth — and he made sure to pay for all the other visitors’ goods as well. Watch the sweet clip below. As he explained in the Instagram caption, Dwayne Johnson was “broke as hell” in his youth, “so I used to steal a king sized @snickers EVERY DAY from 7-11 for almost a year when I was 14yrs old, on my way to the gym.” Added Johnson, “The same clerk was there every day and always just turned her head and never busted me.” Johnson’s family was evicted from their Hawaiian home in 1987, and ever since then, his past theft has been weighing on his conscience. ...
The Pitch: It’s often very difficult to feel optimistic about the general state of things in this country. For people who have grown up and lived through crisis after crisis, the many who were thrust into unsteady job markets and a Sisyphean uphill battle of debt and financial instability, the elusive American Dream sounds like just that — a dream. For the particularly vulnerable, like people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community who face a rapid increase in life-threatening rhetoric, there’s an intersectionality to the frustration and fear that can accompany everyday life in the US. While film and television aren’t an immediate salve for wide-reaching systemic issues, stories do matter, as does representation. Little America, the Apple TV+ anthology series developed by Le...
