Vocalist Kyle Thomas of New Orleans-based thrash metal pioneers EXHORDER has confirmed to the “Brutally Delicious” podcast that he and his bandmates have spent much of the coronavirus downtime working on material for the follow-up to 2019’s “Mourn The Southern Skies” album. “We all were really busy with the writing process pretty much from jump,” he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “I think any band that kind of snoozed on that opportunity set themselves up for being in a bad position because now bands that did put in the work during the pandemic, if they’re not releasing albums now, they’re not far off. We’ve been in pre-production for it for quite some time. It’s something that we’re gonna be working ...
During a summer 2021 appearance on Fox News‘ “Fox & Friends” show, STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis discussed his controversial solo single “Am I The Only One”. The track, which takes aim at liberals and touches on American flags burning and statues that have been removed in the country, was written by Lewis with Ira Dean and Jeffrey Steele. Speaking about the inspiration for the song, Lewis said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Well, I lived through the last year and a half with you and everybody else in this country, and I found myself on many occasions, just like all of you, sitting and scratching my head and wondering what is going on in this amazing country that we have.” Aaron went on to say that the key to connecting people from both si...
SABATON frontman Joakim Brodén spoke to Germany’s Radio Bob! about the stage production for the upcoming tour in support of the Swedish metallers’ tenth studio album, “The War To End All Wars”. Due on March 4, 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records, the concept LP of 11 brand-new songs was written and recorded during the COVID-19 global pandemic and once again dives deep into the atrocities, miracles, and events tied to the early 20th century’s World War I. Brodén said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Well, I can give some hints [about the live show]. I don’t wanna be secretive, but at the same time, I don’t wanna spoil the surprise, because that should be something for the concertgoers to discover in a way, so they get that ‘wow’ e...

According to Metal Journal, a small mural of iconic MÖTÖRHEAD leader Ian Fraser “Lemmy” Kilmister recently appeared on a street in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. The identity of the artist is unknown at the moment, but the mural can be found on Iturribide, a well-known street to all the heavy metal fans in Bilbao since some of the most popular heavy metal pubs have been located there since the Eighties. Lemmy died in December 2015 at the age of 70 shortly after learning he had been diagnosed with cancer. He had dealt with several health issues over the last few years of his life, including heart trouble, forcing him to cut back on his famous smoking habits. MOTÖRHEAD had to cancel a number of shows in 2015 because of Lemmy‘s poor health, although the band did manage to co...
If all you wanted for Christmas was a new Neil Young album, then you’re in luck. The legendary singer-songwriter has gifted fans with Summer Songs, a previously unreleased album from 1987. You can listen to it now via Neil Young Archives. “Happy Holidays everyone! I think you will enjoy this very cool recording – lost for years, but not forgotten. Now a gift,” Young wrote in a note accompanying the album’s release. The eight-song Summer Songs was originally tracked at Broken Arrow Ranch in Redwood City, California, with Young playing all of the instruments. Though the album was never released, several of the songs later appeared on records such as Freedom, American Dream, Psychedelic Pill, and Harvest Moon. However, “the words of these originals are significantly different from their subse...
Donald Glover has revealed the first full-length trailer for Atlanta’s long-awaited third season. Watch it below. As revealed earlier this week, Season 3 of FX’s award-winning dramedy starring Donald Glover, Lakeith Stanfield, Zazie Beetz, and Brian Tyree Henry will arrive March 24th — three years after it was originally slated to premiere in 2019 (it was ultimately delayed due to the pandemic). As fans will remember, Season 2 left off with Tracy (Khris Davis) showing up at “Paper Boi”‘s (Henry) apartment, not realizing the rising rapper had already left on his European tour. (We’d say “spoiler alert, but it’s been, you know, nearly four years…) Per to a logline provided by FX, Season 3 finds “Paper Boi,” Earn (Glover), Darius (Stanfield), and Van (Beetz) in the midst of the aforementioned...
On Christmas, Frank Ocean returned with a new episode of blonded RADIO, and with it came the premiere of a brand new song from the R&B crooner. In introducing the song, Ocean said it was inspired by a conversation he had with Wim “The Iceman” Hof, a Dutch extreme athlete and motivational speaker who specializes in cold therapy and breathing techniques. As Ocean explained, he spoke to Hof about “the purpose of grief” in the wake of the passing of his brother, Ryan Breaux, last year. “We spoke for a while about his work, the purpose of grief, and how going into the cold water changed his life,” Ocean wrote on Instagram. “It reminded me of conversations in the studio with players I know. Freewheeling, psychedelic, emotionally charged, intelligent, and generous.” Advertisement Related Vide...
DREAM THEATER‘s official YouTube channel has uploaded the band’s cover of the holiday classic “O Holy Night”. The track was recorded during a soundcheck at the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon on June 9, 1993 and was released three years later on a very rare fan-club-only Christmas CD. Last year, DREAM THEATER released a medley of holiday classics called “The Holiday Spirit Carries On”. The proceeds of the song, which was made available via Bandcamp, went to support the band’s road crew which was unable to work in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. DREAM THEATER‘s latest LP, “A View From The Top Of The World”, came out in October. It was produced by guitarist John Petrucci, with engineering and additional production by Jame...
At last month’s Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida, DISTURBED frontman David Draiman spoke to SiriusXM‘s Shannon Gunz about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band’s follow-up to 2018’s “Evolution” album. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “This past week has just been amazing for the DISTURBED camp — like, amazing for the DISTURBED camp. We have been writing, and it is sick — it is absolutely sick. It is old-school DISTURBED. It’s groove, it’s power, it’s ferocity, it’s polysyncopation — it’s all those things that people have known us for since day one. We really wanted to go back to where we came from — our meat and potatoes, so to speak. We came up with six new song idea...
Former MÖTLEY CRÜE singer John Corabi says that he doesn’t know if the songs he recorded with Mick Mars five years ago will make it to the MÖTLEY CRÜE guitarist Mick Mars‘s highly anticipated debut solo album. Back in 2016, Mars released snippets of two solo songs, apparently called “Gimme Blood” and “Shake The Cage”. The tracks, which were recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville, where Mars has lived for about eight years, featured Corabi, who appeared on CRÜE‘s 1994 self-titled album. Corabi later said that he didn’t contribute to the writing process for the two songs, but that he was open to collaborating with Mars on some brand new material. During a December 22 Facebook Live session, Corabi was asked about the fate of the material he r...
In a recent interview with Metal Mythos Aftershock, singer Tim “Ripper” Owens, who joined ICED EARTH in 2003 and stayed in the band for four years before being fired in December 2007, reflected on his split with the Jon Schaffer-led outfit. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It wasn’t a very good parting. I was leaving to go to [Jon‘s] house to record a new record. And I walked back into my house to grab something and I got an e-mail and I looked at it and it said, ‘Brothers and sisters… You’re fired,’ or whatever. It’s the same e-mail he sent Blabbermouth at the same time. And it wasn’t a good falling out. It was two weeks before Christmas. It wasn’t good.” Owens continued: “Two weeks before that, [J...
