Electronic duo TNGHT have released the new song “Brick Figures,” as well as its accompanying music video. Listen to the track below. The production team comprised of Hudson Mohawke and Lunice released “Brick Figures” as part of Glasgow label LuckyMe’s annual Advent Calendar charity compilation, which also features songs from Jacques Greene, Cid Rim, HIRA, and Seiho. Industrial sound effects make up the beat of the instrumental song, which Lunice described in a statement as “the kind of music Lego characters would be listening to on their own time.” Rather than Lego characters, however, two naked, distorted figures convulse under a strobe light in the song’s music video, directed by Dan Streit and Christopher Rutledge. Today, the Detroit rapper upped his volume by releasing Super Tecmo Bo, a nine-track project combining a handful of new songs with bonus tracks previously only available on the Bo Jackson vinyl deluxe edition. One of the standouts is “Hot Water Tank” featuring underground LA rapper ICECOLDBISHOP, who brin...
Fan-filmed video footage of Sebastian Bach‘s December 16 performance at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, California can be seen below. The former SKID ROW singer recently returned to the stage for a tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band’s double-platinum, acclaimed album “Slave To The Grind”. The trek kicked off on September 25 in Waterloo, New York and will wrap in San Diego, California on December 17. In October, Sebastian was asked in an interview with Rockin’ Metal Revival if he ever regrets writing such high vocal parts that he now has to reproduce live on stage three decades later. He responded: “All I can tell you is that I’ve been singing so much in the last four or months. I can’t tell you exactly what I was doing yet, b...
During a recent appearance on “Whiplash”, the KLOS radio show hosted by Full Metal Jackie, VOLBEAT frontman Michael Poulsen spoke about the musical inspiration for the band’s eighth studio album, “Servant Of The Mind”, which came out on December 3 via Republic Records. “If you look at the more heavy side of the material, it’s obvious that’s a lot of old BLACK SABBATH inspiration — more from the [Ronnie James] Dio past and from the Tony Martin [era] of BLACK SABBATH,” he said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “I do love the Ozzy [Osbourne] material, but you can definitely hear the inspiration from the BLACK SABBATH Dio and Tony Martin era. And there’s also some pretty old-school death metal influences, like DEATH and BOLT...

MACHINE HEAD‘s Robb Flynn and Jared MacEachern held the latest “Electric Happy Hour” earlier today (Friday, December 17) during which they performed a “handful” of METALLICA covers — including “For Whom The Bell Tolls”, “Damage, Inc.” and “No Remorse” — in honor of the legendary band’s 40th anniversary. You can now watch the session below. Back in 2011, Flynn spoke to Revolver magazine about how MACHINE HEAD got to open for METALLICA on the “Death Magnetic” tour. “To me, one of the raddest things in the world was touring with METALLICA and watching ‘Master of Puppets’ — not ‘Enter Sandman’,” he said. “I get why ‘Enter Sandman’ is so frickin’ huge, ...
We’re taking a break from our Annual Report to highlight the Song of the Week. In this feature, we talk about the song we just can’t get out of our head each week. Find these songs and more on our Spotify Top Songs playlist. For our favorite new songs from emerging artists, check out our Spotify New Sounds playlist. This week, Best Coast is back with a little help from rising stars The Linda Lindas. Pop culture right now seems dominated by a certain amount of sentimentality. Rebooting and revamping have become the norm, and people are starting to push back on the oversaturation. Best Coast probably weren’t intending to jump into that exact discourse with their latest, “Leading,” but the opening line is a relatable statement nonetheless: “Nostalgia’s overrated, or maybe it’s just complicate...
RZA and Flatbush Zombies are big Quentin Tarantino fans. Last week, the Wu-Tang MC teamed up with the hip-hop group for the Reservoir Dogs-inspired single “Plug Addicts,” and now, the artists are back with a song named after the director himself. Produced by RZA, Prince Paul, and Erick the Architect, “Quentin Tarantino” sees Flatbush Zombies rap over a slow, smoky guitar riff. Zombie Juice, Erick the Architect, and Meechy Darko blend references to characters real and imagined, noting, “Who killed Bill? They shot Kennedy/ Malcom layin’ dead, like how they gon’ level the playin’ field?” In the accompanying music video, directed by John Tashiro, RZA does his best Mr. Blonde while the Zombies roam Los Angeles in white suits. The rappers discussed the origin of “Quentin Tarantino” in a sta...
A one-time Winter Olympic speed skater found herself in hot water today when she was charged with defrauding the federal government of $10 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans, part of which she allegedly used to help fund an Elijah Wood movie. In court papers filed in Utah, prosecutors allege that Allison Baver — who represented the United States in the 2002, 2006, and 2010 Olympics as a member of the women’s speed skating team — filed multiple loan applications claiming her production company, Allison Baver Productions, had as many as 430 employees and a monthly payroll of $4 million. According to the indictment, the Taylorsville, Utah native’s eponymous company was all smoke and mirrors, with no employees at all. And yet, Baver’s applications were approved to the tune of a...
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Mother/Android.] The new Hulu film Mother/Android is a story about the robot apocalypse that’s really about the power of parental love. Chloe Grace Moretz stars as Georgia, a young woman living in a world where robot servants are a normal part of life; until, that is, the night the androids rose up in violent revolt against humanity. Up until then, the biggest problem Georgia had was how she and her boyfriend Sam (Algee Smith) were going to handle her unplanned pregnancy — several months later, they’re making their way through the northeast backroads towards Boston, where there’s promise of a ship that might help them escape from a ruined America. All they have to do is survive the constant threat of robot attacks, not to mention her own ...
