A man who crashed the stage at a recent Black Crowes concert found himself (or, more specifically, his face) at the receiving end of Rich Robinson’s guitar. As Metal Injection points out, the incident occurred during the band’s concert in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend. As the Robinson brothers played “Stare It Cold,” a man rushed the stage in bassist Steve Pipien’s direction. Security quickly intervened and attempted to escort the man off the stage, but he was able to wiggle free. It was at this point that Rich Robinson took off his guitar and slammed it into the man’s face / chest. Chris Robinson also took a swing at the man with his mic stand and appeared ready to stab him with it; fortunately for the stage crasher, he was pushed off the stage before the incident escalated any fu...
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers through the Season 1 finale of Andor.] A lot of major plot points are packed into the Season 1 finale of Andor, but really, one of the year’s most powerful episodes of television came down to a speech from a dead woman. Fiona Shaw’s work was the definition of Emmy-worthy in the back half of the season, as Cassian Andor (Diego Luna)’s adoptive mother, fully aware that she was nearing the end of her days, became fully committed to one goal: doing whatever she could to combat the rise of the Empire. Her passing in Episode 11, as seen from the point of view of her loyal droid B2EMO, was already a heartbreaking moment for the show — the childlike sadness of “I want Maarva” jerking tears from anyone who’s ever lost a loved one. But then came her sp...
Crime doesn’t wait for the holidays to pass, especially for the Reno Sheriff’s Department. Comedy Central has today revealed the trailer for Reno 911!: It’s a Wonderful Heist, the upcoming feature-length Christmas special featuring the cast of the satirical cop comedy. The season isn’t so cheerful for Lieutenant Dangle (Thomas Lennon), who finds himself wishing he’d never been born. He’s visited by a Christmas “angel” (Nick Swardson), who gives Dangle the chance to see what his colleagues and hometown would be like if he was never there. Unfortunately, everyone appears to be doing much, much better. Never one to take things subtly, Dangle decides he should stay alive — for better or for worse. When a potential theft threatens a local mall owner, the sheriffs do what they do best: Kind...
Failure have announced a streaming concert film, dubbed “We Are Hallucinations,” premiering December 15th. It marks the veteran alt-rockers first foray into streaming and captures performances from the band’s summer 2022 tour in support of their 2021 album Wild Type Droid. The 18 songs selected for the film span all six of Failure’s studio albums, including choice cuts such as “Stuck on You” — as seen in the trailer below. “It’s crazy that we have never made a concert film before,” remarked guitarist Greg Edwards in a press release, “but I think this will really stand as a definitive document of the dynamic between the three of us on stage and the connection we have with our fans.” Advertisement Related Video Failure are treating fans just in time for the holiday. Jerry Seinfeld once joked that we don’t care about sports players, we’re just rooting for laundry. Quentin Tarantino seems to believe much the same thing when it comes to modern movies, saying that the “Marvel-ization of Hollywood” has led to a decline in movie stars. “Part of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood is…you have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters,” Tarantino said on the “2 Bears, 1 Cave” podcast (via Mediaite). “But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say that. I think that’s been said a zillion times…but it’s like, you know, it’s these franchise characters that become a star.” Noting that he doesn’t “hate” Marvel films, Tarantino said, “I’m not even putting the...

If $ilk is a bowling ball crashing his way through these hallucinogen-laced thoughts, then Harlem-born producer and longtime collaborator Kahlil Blu is the bumper keeping him from sliding into the gutter. Blu produced all of Imma Just Drop, and his beats match the hectic variety of $ilk’s raps with outsized flair. “I Ate 14gs of Mushrooms” and “Cuummoney Amiliani” blend hazy sample work with crystal-clear drums and synths to compound two different but equally epic sounds into psychedelic rocket fuel. “One Glazed” lets a guitar lick simmer in the background of what sounds like 808 Mafia trying their hand at drum’n’bass. “A Visit From the Giant Portal Wizard Snake” and “Jodi Don’t Love Me No Mo :-(” settle into intoxicating sampled chops and loops, while “Emmm, Nigga You Is Tasty &...
Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood are many things, but flashy certainly isn’t one of them. Along with drummer Tom Skinner of Sons of Kemet, the two Radiohead members quietly re-emerged together earlier this year as The Smile. The trio released their debut album, May’s A Light for Attracting Attention, with relatively little press or social media promotion surrounding it; as with most good things involving Radiohead, the music speaks for itself. With the exception of Greenwood’s prolific output of consistently beautiful film scores, even the most ardent fans would have to admit that many Radiohead members’ side projects (solo endeavors, the Flea-featuring supergroup Atoms for Peace) have up to this point typically paled in comparison to their main band’s discography. But when Yorke, Greenwood,...
Despite scaring off Twitter’s advertisers weeks after his purchase of the platform, Elon Musk has managed to keep some fanboys on lock, especially in the cryptocurrency world. In fact, the crypto company EGTPRO — which stands for Elon Goat Token — so wants Musk’s attention that it raised $600,000 from the “super fans” of the entrepreneur and built him a statue depicting his head on the body of the Doge coin Shiba Inu dog riding a rocket. “Elon GOAT Token has really stepped outside the box and did something no other Crypto project has dared to do,” EGTPRO said on its website. “We built Elon Musk a $600,000 monument on the back of a semi trailer in honor of his many accomplishments and commitment to Cryptocurrency!” According to Interesting Engineering, the project was designed by Danny...
It’s been six years since the passing of both Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, but the prog-rock greats live on in spirit. Now, surviving ELP member Carl Palmer is reuniting with his late bandmates on stage, thanks to the all new live show “Welcome Back My Friends: The Return of Emerson Lake & Palmer Tour” (get tickets here). “The Return of Emerson Lake & Palmer” show finds Palmer playing live in front of huge video walls displaying rare footage of Emerson and Lake. The video was captured during two 1992 performances at London’s iconic The Royal Albert Hall, shows which were turned into a live album and now a unique concert experience. Palmer calls the “Welcome Back My Friends” show “a real multi-media experience,” one in which Emerson and Lake are honored in the live footage, addition...
