[Editor’s note: The following contains mild spoilers for The English.] The new Prime Video series The English is an unconventional Western for a number of reasons, but the most central one might be the romance at its center. “It was the most tender love story and surprising love story,” star Emily Blunt tells Consequence. “I loved their chemistry.” Set in the late 1800s, largely on the wild plains of Kansas and Wyoming, The English focuses on a vengeful Englishwoman (Blunt) and the Pawnee ex-soldier (Chaske Spencer) who becomes an essential part of her quest for revenge. As they work together to fight and survive, a bond develops that was very much by design, according to writer/director Hugo Blick (The Honourable Woman). Neil Young has no regrets after pulling his music from Spotify over vaccine misinformation, saying on The Howard Stern Show, “Why would I keep it on there when it sounds like a pixilated movie?” Via Billboard, Young also gave more details on his battle with the big green circle earlier this year, and how he arrived at his decision. “I woke up one morning and I heard somebody saying there was some scientists saying something about COVID, or some doctors and they were saying something about COVID and how many people were dying in hospitals and misinformation,” Young said. “And I listened to it and they were saying he purposely is saying this stuff that he knows isn’t true about COVID and people were dying,” he said of Rogan’s decision to platform vaccine falsehoods. “I ju...
Ice, baby, I saw your girlfriend and she’s… going to Slanted! Enchanted! A Pavement Musical. Yep — just months after their long-awaited reunion, Pavement’s discography is being turned into a jukebox musical, cribbing its name from the band’s stone-cold classic 1992 debut Slanted and Enchanted. As of right now, Slanted! Enchanted! is only scheduled for two workshop performances at New York City’s Sheen Center on Thursday, December 1st and Friday, December 2nd; no word yet on whether more shows will be added. Slanted! Enchanted! will be directed by Alex Ross Perry — the filmmaker who also recently helmed the new music video for Pavement’s runaway TikTok hit “Harness Your Hopes” — and stars Michael Esper, Zoe Lister-Jones, and Kathryn Gallagher. We have no idea what the plot will be...
You might think that movie props are pretty much the same, but actually there’s a vas deferens. Will Ferrell’s favorite, as he told ITV1’s This Morning (via The Independent), is a pair of prosthetic testicles he stole from the set of 2008’s Step Brothers. “I have some interesting mementos from some of my films, but the most valuable one, literally, is from Step Brothers – prosthetics, of sorts,” he said. After prompting, he added, “Testicles.” “I just have a little special box I keep them in,” he explained. “The testicles I put on a drum set, and I bring them out for dinner parties.” Advertisement Related Video Presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby then revealed a photo of Ferrell holding the prosthetic aloft, to which Ferrell responded, “That looks lik...
Watching reporters get drunk on New Year’s Eve is easily the best part about television coverage of the holiday, but you probably can’t look forward to an inebriated rant from Don Lemon this year. As Variety reports, CNN has ordered its correspondents to lay off the drinking while they work on this year’s New Year’s Eve. Besides Lemon — who got his ear pierced during his post-12:30 a.m. block of the show in 2016 and assured viewers last year that he was a “grown ass man” who didn’t care about his haters — Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen take the cake for the network’s Most Likely to Go Viral employees. Cooper and Cohen have hosted CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage since 2002 and 2018 respectively, and the dynamic between their friendship tends to be exacerbated by alcohol, from Cohen ranting ab...
The way young people are listening to music, whether at home or at a concert, can potentially result in wide-scale hearing loss across the globe. According to a new study, a range of 670 million to 1.35 billion teens and young adults are currently in danger of losing their hearing due to unsafe listening practices. The study, published by the BMJ Global Health Journal, is titled “Prevalence and Global Estimates of Unsafe Listening Practices in Adolescents and Young Adults: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.” It researched the effects of listening to music through personal listening devices (via headphones and earbuds) and attending live shows at entertainment venues such as arenas, theaters, and bars. The new research basically looked at 33 existing studies that compiled data from 35 r...
Kevin Spacey will be charged with seven more counts of sexual assault in the UK, ABC News reports. The charges stem from one victim who alleges a number of incidents occurred in 2001 and 2004. According to the Crown Prosecution Service, Spacey will face three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault, and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. “The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr. Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial,” Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said in a statement. These seven charges follow four counts of sexual assault Spacey faced by the Crown Prosecution Service back in May. The actor was additionally charged with one cou...
Lily-Rose Depp’s got some pretty famous parents, but don’t blame them for her success. The model and actress aired out her issues with the “nepotism baby” label she’s faced in recent years in a new interview with Elle, pointing to the fact that more famous women are accused of benefiting from nepotism than famous men. Memes abound on social media about the deflating feeling of discovering that one’s favorite celebrity has famous parents, with the insinuation that their talent disappears after realizing that they probably had a helping hand in achieving success. However, Lily-Rose — daughter of Johnny Depp and French singer Vanessa Paradis — argues that said interest in one’s famous parents really only exists online. “The internet seems to care a lot about that kind of stuff. People ar...
Music fans who have purchased NFTs from Coachella could be left twisting in the wind after the cryptocurrency exchange FTX recently filed for bankruptcy. The festival launched a longterm partnership with FTX back in February to offer $1.5 million in NFTs on a new marketplace. According to Billboard, a Coachella staff member revealed on the festival’s Discord server that they were unable to contact FTX. “Like many of you, we have been watching this news unfold online over the past few days and are shocked by the outcome,” they said. “We do not currently have any lines of communication with the FTX team. We have assembled an internal team to come up with solutions based on the tools we have access to. Our priority is getting Coachella NFTs off of FTX, which appears to be disabled at the...
