Boldy James has announced his third album of 2022, Mr. Ten08. Out on November 4th, the project features the lead single “Flag on the Play.” The 10-track LP was entirely produced by Toronto’s Futurewave and includes a sole feature from fellow Detroit rapper 2100 Bagz. Check out the artwork and full tracklist below. “Flag on the Play” pairs a laidback, jazz-infused beat with Boldy’s vivid tales of scraping up from the bottom of the barrel. “We went from piss poor to slumdog millionaires,” he raps. “Off pounds, pills and birds, nouns, syllables, and verbs.” Advertisement Related Video Ironically, the announcement of Mr. Ten08’s imminent arrival comes on the heels of his Evidence-produced track “Drop an Album.” Stream both songs below. As Shakira gears up for her 12th studio album, the Colombian superstar has called upon Ozuna for the second single, “Monotonía.” As the title suggests, the song is about the monotony that can occur when a couple gets too comfortable in a relationship. Naturally, there’s disagreement about who’s at fault when they sing, “Tú distante con tu actitud, y eso me llenaba de inquietud/ Tú no daba’ ni la mitad, pero sí sé que di más que tú.” In English, this roughly translates to: “You were distant with your attitude, and that filled me with restlessness/ You didn’t give even half, but I do know that I gave more than you.” Advertisement Related Video The over-the-top music video starts off with Shakira singing to Ozuna in the snack aisle of a grocery store before a literal bazooka blows a larg...

Behind the Boards is a series where we spotlight some of the biggest producers in the industry and dig into some of their favorite projects. Here, we sit down with Ricky Reed to discuss his songwriting and production work with Lizzo, Camila Cabello Leon Bridges, and more. It’s been a whirlwind of a decade for Ricky Reed. Since 2012, the California-based singer, songwriter, and producer has helmed dozens of hits, including Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty,” Meghan Trainor’s “Me Too,” and most recently, Lizzo’s triumphant Hot 100 No. 1 “About Damn Time.” But Reed’s versatility is what makes his career so special; he’s never just been the go-to pop producer or top line aficionado. He thrives in the sonic grey areas of pop, determined to make each song in his catalog a full experience, never half-as...
Great albums are about more than the music. When they really hit, just mentioning their names evokes memories and elicits “Remember when…” conversations. good kid, m.A.A.d city — released on October 22nd, 2012 — is one of those albums, which is why its 10-year anniversary is a very big deal. Kendrick Lamar became a household name on the strength of everything he did on this album, while possibly becoming the voice of a generation at the same time. He got into our bloodstreams through touching topics that meant a lot to him, while hoping we related. I related in a way I never predicted and 10 years later, I understand how important just one song was because it truly changed my world in a way no piece of music ever has nor probably ever will. Addiction sucks. I’m pretty sure I’m not blowing ...
