Robbie Coltrane, the beloved comic actor who starred as Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter film franchise, is dead at the age of 72, his agent confirmed to Deadline. Coltrane had been in poor health for about two years, and died in a hospital near his Larbert, Scotland, home. Coltrane featured prominently in all eight films in the Harry Potter series, serving as a bumbling but lovable father figure to the titular orphan. He also stole scenes in the James Bond films GoldenEye (1995) and The World Is Not Enough (1999) as Russian gangster Valentin Zukovsky, and won three consecutive BAFTA Awards for best actor in the ITV crime series Cracker. The DC Cinematic Universe has faced some serious shake-ups in 2022 alone. With the controversial state of its upcoming Flash film, the world has their critical eyes on their newest film set to release this October. DC’s Black Adam, like The Flash, is set to bring about a new era for the DCEU following the mixed bag that was Zack Snyder’s DCEU. With his debut as Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson redefines what it means to be a hero while facing off against the Justice Society of America for the first time in live-action. DC’s Black Adam is a major turning point for the company, with its protagonist leaning further down the line of what is morally sound. While it isn’t uncommon for movies and TV to have morally gray and villainous protagonists, DC’s Black Adam seems to be one of the first superhero...

Bill Murray doesn’t exactly have a great reputation right now, and to add to the fire, Rob Schneider has shared his own experience with the rather difficult comedian. Appearing on SiriusXM’s Jim Norton & Sam Roberts, the Saturday Night Live alum recalled that Murray — himself a former Not Ready for Prime Time Player — really didn’t jibe with Schneider or castmates like Chris Farley and Adam Sandler. Initially discussing a project he declined to name, Schneider described a filmmaker warning the crew that “‘Bill Murray is gonna come, he’s gonna change the… dialogue. He’s gonna change things, and it’s gonna be great, but you don’t know who you’re gonna get. Which Bill Murray you’re gonna get. The nice Bill Murray? Or you’re gonna get the tough Bill Murray?’” “He’s super nic...

Red Hot Chili Peppers are back with Return of the Dream Canteen, their second album of 2022. Listen to the project below. Anthony Kiedis, Flea, and Chad Smith have clearly been in good spirits since reuniting with their beloved on-again, off-again guitarist John Frusciante. Not only did they write enough music to follow-up April’s Unlimited Love just six months later, but they also penned a sentimental message to fans about Return of the Dream Canteen‘s origins. The statement reads: “We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the ...

Garbage singer Shirley Manson is the latest artist to speak up about the “enormous strain” musicians are facing due to the current state of live music. In a statement posted to Instagram, she said a “large percentage” of fellow musicians “are likely living hand to mouth” as a result. “Live music is under enormous strain,” Manson wrote in a caption accompanying the cover photo of a recent Vulture report titled The Live-Music Industry Is Broken. “The average musician can no longer survive let alone thrive under the current conditions. We are seeing so many precious talents buckle under the economic injustice of a system that does not pay the creative for their artistic output.” Manson continued, “Everyone is vying for a handful of venues in order to make a small amount of money to tide them ...
Martin Scorsese will executive produce and direct the first two episodes of a new Gangs of New York TV series, Deadline reports. The new show won’t be an adaptation of Scorsese’s 2002 crime drama Gangs of New York, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Cameron Diaz. Instead, he and writer Brett Leonard are returning to the source material, looking at new characters and storylines from Herbert Asbury’s 1927 non-fiction book, The Gangs of New York. Asbury’s history covers several decades of organized crime, beginning in the second half of the 1800s and continuing through prohibition. Scorsese’s film was set in 1862, and HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, which he directed and executive produced, was set in the 1920s, so perhaps this new...
