Big Thief, Arctic Monkeys Among Alternative Nominees for 2023 Grammys
The Grammys have today unveiled their full list of 2023 nominees. Arctic Monkeys, Big Thief, Arcade Fire, Björk, and Wet Leg are just some of the artists vying for Best Alternative Music Album and/or Best Alternative Music Performance. Big Thief, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and runaway hit rookies Wet Leg (who are up for Best New Artist) all received Grammy nominations in both the Best Alternative Album and Performance categories. Highly Suspect have announced a 2023 US headlining tour with support from Dead Poet Society. The outing kicks off February 3rd in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and runs through March 3rd in Indianapolis. Ticket pre-sales begin Wednesday (November 16th) at 10 a.m. local time, with Live Nation pre-sale starting on Thursday at 10 a.m. local time using the code HEADLINE. Low’s Mimi Parker Dies Following Battle with Cancer
Low drummer/vocalist Mimi Parker passed away on Saturday (November 5th) following a battle with ovarian cancer. In a statement posted to social media on Sunday, Parker’s husband and musical collaborator, Alan Sparhawk, announced his wife’s passing. “Friends, it’s hard to put the universe into language and into a short message, but… She passed away last night, surrounded by family and love, including yours,” Sparhawk wrote. “Keep her name close and sacred. Paramore Announce 2023 North American Tour
This is why I will leave the house: Paramore have announced a 26-city North American arena tour in 2023. What’s more, they’ll be joined by a rotating cast of supporting acts that include Bloc Party, Foals, The Linda Lindas, and Genesis Owusu. The tour, which comes in support of their new album This Is Why, kicks off on May 23rd in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hinterland Music Festival is cropping back up in St. Charles, Iowa from August 4th-6th, 2023, with a lineup led by Bon Iver, Maggie Rogers, and Zach Bryan. The eighth iteration of the rural festival outside Des Moines will be hosted once again at Avenue of the Saints Amphitheater and returns to a three-day event after this year’s fourth day expansion. The indie rock-heavy roster also includes artists like Angel Olsen, Houndmouth, Sylvan Esso, Orville Peck, Wallows, and The Regrettes. Placebo Announce 2023 North American Tour
Placebo are hitting the road in 2023 for their first North American tour in nine years. The band had previously delayed a fall 2022 trek. The new 19-date stretch opens in Mexico City on April 17th and hits New York for two nights as well as Philadelphia, Austin, Los Angeles, and more. Italian glam rockers Måneskin have announced a new album called Rush!, due out January 20th. The band’s third full-length will be available in a variety of configurations, including on CD and standard, white, red, and picture disk vinyl, with special box sets for sale as well.
