Sigur Rós Announce 20th Anniversary Reissue of ( ), Share “Dauðalagið” (The Death Song): Stream
Sigur Rós are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their third studio album, ( ), with a new reissue arriving digitally on October 27th. As a preview, they’ve shared the first single, a remastered version of “Untitled #7” (aka “Dauðalagið” or “The Death Song”). Stream it below. The 20th anniversary edition of ( ) was remastered by legendary engineer Ted Jenson at Sterling Sound. In addition to previously unreleased material, it features rarities and demos including unheard studio sessions of existing tracks and two B-Sides from the original “Untitled 1” single. The Cure kicked off their European tour with a concert in Latvia on Thursday night. The 25-song setlist included two new songs called “Alone” and “Endsong,” which are presumably taken from their long-awaited new album Songs of a Lost World. “Alone,” a seven-minute “Plainsong”-adjacent number, opened the show in typical Cure fashion, with Robert Smith walking on stage without a guitar to take in the crowd during an extended instrumental intro. “This is the end of every song that we sing,” he eventually croons. “Endsong,” meanwhile, naturally closed out the band’s main set (two encores followed). King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are releasing three albums this month, and the first one, Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava, is out now. Listen to the project below. King Gizzard wrote Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava in the studio, assigning every song on the seven-track album a specific beats-per-minute value and a mode of the major scale. “We’d walk into the studio, set everything up, get a rough tempo going and just jam,” band leader Stu Mackenzie said in a statement. “No preconceived ideas at all, no concepts, no songs. Paramore have responded to reports that a male audience member at one of the band’s recent shows physically and verbally assaulted a number of women. “After last night’s show in SLC, we were made aware of an incident that happened in the crowd while we were on stage,” Hayley Williams and company wrote on social media. “A man physically and verbally assaulted multiple women, including an engaged couple at our show. Our security team and venue staff were made aware and were able to restrain and remove him. We did not realize this was happening, as the incident took place out of view from stage. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have released the new single “Iron Lung” from Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava, their first of three albums coming in October. The nine-minute psych-rock jam comes with an equally trippy animated music video by SPOD. “Iron Lung” initially follows a measured, jazzy beat that expands with flutes, saxophone, and crunchy guitar riffs to an explosive peak.
