The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Ayodele has prophesied that Ifeanyi Ubah can emerge victorious in the coming Anambra gubernatorial election. The cleric said, Ubah, candidate of Young Progressive Party, YPP should pray that confusion rocks the boat of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA. Anambra State All Progressive Congress (APC) has denied any hand in the triple candidates scenario in All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state as alleged by Governor Willie Obiano of the state. Anambra election: 22 political parties storm INEC office, want participation

Twenty-two political parties, on Friday, stormed the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Abuja, to submit names and particulars of candidates for the November 6 Anambra governorship election. The parties, which were part of the 74 political parties deregistered by INEC last year, insisted that they must be on the ballot as they had obtained a declarative judgment by the Appeal Court quashing their deregistration by the INEC. The electoral body, however, rejected their request, insisting that the parties remained deregistered. Some members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Tuesday, decamped to the Labour Party. Centre decries burning of INEC offices

The Centre for Transparency Advocacy has decried the incessant cases of burning of offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission across the nation, describing it as a dangerous trend which could impede the process of organizing the November 6, Anambra State governorship election. It noted that the coordinated attacks have in recent times affected three states in the South East in particular – the INEC office in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area in Imo State, the Igboeze Local Government Area office in Enugu State, the Udenu office of INEC on May 16, 2021 and the attack on the INEC headquarters in Enugu. The Police in Anambra State have confirmed attacks on the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission and Police B’Division in Awka, the State capital on Sunday night. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, who confirmed the incident said he had scanty information on the development. He said, “Please, I will get back to you as soon as I get the full details.” Gunmen had around 9pm on Sunday invaded B Division Police Station and the INEC office in Awka. As discussions surrounding the 2023 presidential election gathers pace, South East Governors and other politicians from the region have been warned against ‘angling for the position of Vice President’.
