Femi Fani-Kayode asks President Buhari to leave Sunday Igboho alone to avoid civil war
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to leave self-acclaimed Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, alone in order to avoid a civil war. Fani-Kayode was reacting to attack on Igboho‘s house in Ibadan by the Department of State Services, DSS, on Thursday. He Igboho is the living manifestation of Oduduwa himself and that he speaks the mind of over 70 million Yoruba people throughout the world. IPOB: No harm should befall Nnamdi Kanu
Barely 24 hours after his arrest was made public, the Indigenous People of Biafra on Wednesday, warned that nothing must happen to its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The organisation which said Kanu was kidnapped by the government agents promised to “expose details of his abduction later”. The lead counsel to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has said the arrest and arraignment of Nnamdi Kanu earlier Tuesday was without his knowledge. “We have just confirmed through a correspondence from the Federal High Court Abuja about the arrest and the extradition of my Client- Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Nigerian State,” Mr Ejiofor said in a statement on Tuesday evening. “He was brought before the Federal High Court No 2 Abuja today on an Eleven count charge, though without our knowledge,” the attorney added. At a joint press briefing on Tuesday with the Department of State Services (SSS) in Abuja, Malami disclosed that international collaborative efforts with security agencies led to Kanu’s arrest and repatriation to Nigeria. NGO calls for prosecution of security operatives who torture suspects
Access to Justice, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on judicial reforms, has called for the prosecution of security operatives who torture suspects. The NGO on Monday released a statement signed by Joseph Otteh, its convener, and Deji Ajare, project director, to commemorate the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. Access to Justice said despite the fact that the Anti-Torture Act 2017 prohibits the torture of suspects, security agencies in Nigeria still engage in “brutal and inhumane tactics”. ‘Armed robbers’ involved in ghastly motor accident in Ogun
Three suspected armed robbers on Saturday were involved a ghastly motor accident at Ode-Remo, Ogun State, while escaping with a car they allegedly snatched at gunpoint. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun police spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday. Oyeyemi said the suspects were escaping with a Toyota Camry car which they snatched at gunpoint in Ondo state. Operatives of the Kaduna Police Command have arrested a suspected bandit around Kudaru forest in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State and intercepted a Volkswagen vehicle and AK47 rifle. Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has urged the police and sister agencies to secure the unconditional release of the seven Ebonyi children abducted by suspected hoodlums at Enyigba community. The children were abducted from their respective homes at Enyigba community in Abakaliki Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi by unknown persons, following alleged renewed conflict over a land dispute with Enyibichiri community in Ikwo LGA.
