As the art world and AI continue to blend, so too have the efforts of archaeologists in unearthing the remnants of the old world. In Italy, experts are utilizing a new system called RePAIR, code named for "Reconstructing the Past: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics meet Cultural Heritage", to help piece together ancient shards found across the country. Funded by the European Union and launched in 2021, RePAIR works like a mechanical puzzle solver. Ukraine has issued a new postal stamp featuring a Banksy mural depicting a young boy body slamming Russian president Vladimir Putin. The release mimics an original artwork that appeared on a house in the town of Borodyanka, just outside Kyiv, and comes just a year after Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.BBC News reports that droves of people waited in line to purchase the stamp, which also contains an expletive reflecting Ukrainian sentiment. Olafur Eliasson is set to install a massive new public art project along England's West Cumbria coastline. Tentatively entitled Your Daylight Destination, the work is in collaboration with novelist Robert Macfarlane and will be a part of a larger art program called Deep Time: Commissions for the Lake District Coast.As his first permanent outdoor project in the UK, the Danish-Icelandic artist will create a large steel basin that will fill with seawater several times a day on Silecroft beach. Visitors will be able to view the 98-foot-long structure all the way to the beach's mudflats, as well as on a viewing platform. Madrid's ARCO contemporary art fair is well underway and one of the most talked about works on view is a sculptural corpse of Pablo Picasso. Created by Spanish artist Eugenio Merino in collaboration with Los Interventores and ADN Gallery, Aquí Murió Picasso (Picasso Died Here), 2017, features the larger-than-life artist laying on a plinth in his signature Breton shirt and linen trousers.The sculpture is exaggerated on multiple levels. To commemorate its second location in Los Angeles, Hauser & Wirth unveiled a new solo exhibition by acclaimed American artist George Condo. As a nod to the City of Angels, People Are Strange takes its title from The Doors' 1967 song of the same name, where Condo explores contrasting themes, such as beauty and ugliness, in his latest suite of paintings.Located in a reconverted automobile showroom, the work on view was all made within the last year and features bizarre characters, vigorous brushstrokes and a general sense of hysteria from canvas-to-canvas.
