‘Worst player I’ve seen play for the club’ – Some Spurs fans tear into ‘awful player’ after defeat

Tottenham Hotspur suffered their first defeat of the season after losing 3-0 against Crystal Palace in the Premier League clash on Saturday at Selhurst Park. Odsonne Edouard, the summer signing from Celtic, scored twice while Wilfried Zaha added another to seal all three points for the home side. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side lacked creativity and energy in the first half, and the task became difficult for them after Japhet Tanganga got sent off for picking up two yellow cards. Harry Winks was withdrawn as a result, and Nuno bolstered the defence by throwing Ben Davies into the mix. However, Davies was penalised for handling the ball in the box for the first goal which Zaha converted from the spot. He also failed to properly mark Edouard, and many fans criticised him heavily on Twitter. Here ...

Henderson and Robertson react as Liverpool centre-back seals move

Liverpool centre-back Ben Davies has joined Championship club Sheffield United on loan for the 2021-22 campaign. The 26-year-old joined the Reds from Preston North End for £1.5 million during the winter transfer window. However, he only played during the summer pre-season having been injured for most of the campaign, featuring twice. Davies will now look to help the Blades seal an immediate return to the Premier League after their relegation at the end of last term, and he is looking forward to competitive action again. The centre-back has posted about his move on Instagram, and Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson have reacted. 25y/o reportedly to be sold by Liverpool without single appearance following £36m deal

Centre-back Ben Davies is set to leave Liverpool without having made a single appearance, according to The Sun. The Reds signed the 25-year-old for £1.5 million in January from Preston North End, but they are ready to sell him, with Sheffield United keen. However, the Blades only want him on a loan deal. Liverpool brought in Davies after losing Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip to season-ending injuries last year, but no longer have a need for him after the trio returned to full fitness and following the arrival of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig for £36 million. Sportslens View Davies was unlucky as he suffered from injuries upon joining the Anfield side, while the Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams used that opportunity to shine. Former PL ace reckons 25-yr-old will ‘be looking to leave Liverpool in the summer’

Former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor reckons that Ben Davies could leave Liverpool in the summer and Scottish giants Celtic will be monitoring this situation. According to the former Villa striker, Liverpool’s decision to sign the 25-year-old centre back seems strange because they have not given him the opportunity to showcase his talent with the first team so far. Agbonlahor said to Football Insider: “It’s just a strange situation. To be brought in and basically have your career put on hold. You’re not playing or even being brought on. It’s very strange from Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. “If he wasn’t good enough, why buy him? “It’s a very, very strange transfer and I’m sure he’ll be looking to leave Liverpool in the summer and go somewhere where he can play week in, w...

Noel Whelan reckons Celtic will be keeping tabs on 25-yr-old who joined PL giants recently

Liverpool signed Ben Davies from Preston North End during the January transfer window to cope with their injury crisis. The 25-year-old defender is yet to start for the reigning Premier League champions, and popular pundit Noel Whelan believes that Celtic will be keeping a close eye on the defender’s situation at the Merseyside club. The Hoops were heavily linked with a move for the centre-back before joining Liverpool, and Whelan claims that although Davies is a good player, he is not good enough for a club of their stature. He said to Football Insider: “They’ll probably have a close eye on him in the summer. It’s a team that’s in transition, looking for a new manager, new players, a fresh start a change in personnel and structure. “It doesn’t surprise me that that they’re still hove...

Liverpool’s centre-back crisis worsens as manager confirms Ozan Kabak injury

Kabak was brought into Anfield during the January transfer window following a series of injuries at centre-back for Liverpool. The 20-year-old has not made an ideal start to life in the Premier League. His debut came against Leicester City, where his mix up with goalkeeper Alisson allowed Jamie Vardy to tap home to put the Foxes 2-1 ahead late on. After a victory in the Champions League over RB Leipzig, the Turkey international was once again under fire after the 2-0 home defeat to Everton in the Merseyside derby. This was followed by a victory at Bramall Lane, before a 1-0 loss against Chelsea. Kabak is now believed to be a doubt for the visit of relegation strugglers Fulham, as reported by Times journalist Paul Joyce on Twitter. The extent of his problem is currently unknown. The loanee ...

Liverpool complete loan deal for Schalke defender

Liverpool have completed the deadline-day signing of Ozan Kabak from Schalke, subject to international clearance. The 20-year-old defender will move to Anfield on loan until the end of the season, with the Reds having the option to make the move permanent in the summer for a fee of £18 million ($25m). Kabak, a Turkey international who moved to Schalke from Stuttgart in 2019, will be the first of two signings on a busy day on Merseyside. He will be joined by Preston centre-back Ben Davies, who finalised his switch earlier on Monday. Goal understands that Liverpool will pay an initial loan fee of around £1m ($1.4m) for Kabak, while the deal for Davies could be worth in excess of £1.6m, should all performance-related add-ons be triggered. The Reds had been insistent that it would be a quiet w...

Scout Report: Signing Ben Davies could prove to be a smart piece of business for Liverpool

Preston North End’s Ben Davies (not to be confused with the man who had a defensive shocker against Brighton & Hove Albion) is set to join Liverpool on deadline day, with the Reds’ under-23 defender Sepp van den Berg moving in the other direction on loan. The Premier League’s defending champions are only going to be paying £500,000 initially, with an additional £1.1 million included in performance-related clauses and Preston securing a 20% sell-on fee. Tottenham boss ‘angry’ with Dele Alli for creating ‘problems for his own team’

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has hit out at Dele Alli, accusing the midfielder of creating “problems for his own team” in his side’s 3-1 win over Stoke in the Carabao Cup. Alli was handed a rare start at Stoke on Wednesday and looked dangerous on occasions in attack, seeing a goal-bound strike saved by Andy Lonergan in the first half. However, he was at fault for Stoke’s goal when a flick gifted possession to the home side – and it was an action that angered his coach. “For me a player who plays in that position is a player that has to link and create and not create problems for his own team,” Mourinho said in his post-match press conference. “They got us on the counterattack, so yes I was angry. “First half we were solid. They didn’t touch the ball, have a shot, have a corner. Instead of ...
