Rush’s Geddy Lee Wrote a Memoir to Help Grieve Neil Peart

Rush’s Geddy Lee says he coped with pandemic lockdowns and the death of his longtime friend and drummer Neil Peart by writing a memoir. The as-yet untitled book will be published in Fall 2022. In an Instagram post, Lee said that he was “locked down for over a year and a half — the longest time I’d spent in Toronto since I was nineteen and hit the Northern Ontario bar circuit with Rush.” Lee spent more time with family, “teaching my grandson the finer points of baseball and birdwatching, tending to my pups (one of whom was quite ill) and spending the evenings with my lovely better half, glass of Armagnac in hand, as we watched every European mystery show ever produced.” But he was still feeling pretty low. Paul McCartney to Reveal Never-Before-Seen Beatles Lyrics in Upcoming Book

Paul McCartney has revealed the 154 songs detailed in his career-spanning book, The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present, due out November 2nd. Check out the full list below. One highlight from the two-volume collection is the handwritten lyrics to an unrecorded Beatles song, “Tell Me Who He Is.” The never-before-seen lyrics were unearthed from a notebook believed to date back to the early 1960s. The Lyrics includes songs from McCartney’s solo work and years in the Beatles and Wings, such as “Blackbird,” “Live and Let Die,” “Hey Jude,” “Band on the Run” and “Yesterday.” The collection contains handwritten lyrics alongside previously unpublished photos, drafts, and drawings. South Africa’s Jacob Zuma marches with supporters opposed to his jailing

Hundreds of supporters of Jacob Zuma marched alongside the former South African president in his hometown of Nkandla on Saturday, a show of force against a court decision to jail him for 15 months for failing to appear at a corruption inquiry. The constitutional court on Tuesday gave Zuma 15 months in jail for absconding in February from the inquiry led by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo. CDHR calls for release of abducted Ebonyi children

Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has urged the police and sister agencies to secure the unconditional release of the seven Ebonyi children abducted by suspected hoodlums at Enyigba community. The children were abducted from their respective homes at Enyigba community in Abakaliki Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi by unknown persons, following alleged renewed conflict over a land dispute with Enyibichiri community in Ikwo LGA. A statement signed by the state secretary of CDHR, Jeremiah Oyibe, on Tuesday in Abakaliki, urged the police to ensure the safe and unconditional release of the seven abductees. US prioritises students’ visas

US Embassy in South Africa The U.S. Mission Country Consular Coordinator, Susan Tuller, has said the Mission in Nigeria will continue to prioritise student visa appointments throughout the summer months. Tuller disclosed this during the celebration of the U.S. Consulate’s “Student Visa Day.” According to her, there are over 13,000 Nigerian students and soon a few more may join them in studying in the U.S. She added that the Mission has interviewed over 2,500 student applicants since this year. Tuller noted that student visa numbers have gone down worldwide due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. EKEDC urges customers to shun unauthorised personnel

Stock Photo Eko Electricity Distribution Company has advised its customers to shun illegal activities and the use of unauthorised personnel within its network. Godwin Idemudia, General Manager, Corporate Communications, EKEDC, gave the advice in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos. Idemudia said the advice followed reports from customers of cases of extortion and illegal connections by persons disguising as EKEDC officials.
