NOA mobilizes Sokoto communities against open defecation

File Photo The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has commenced active community engagements against open defecations in rural communities in Sokoto State. The state Director of NOA, Alhaji Maude Danchadi disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting on ‘Clean Nigeria: Use the Toilet’ campaign, held on Wednesday in Sokoto. He said that the campaign was in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources. He said that NOA would deploy its robust structures and officials in local government areas to promote reorientation and mobilise Nigerians for social change and prevention of open defecations. CAN: CAMA 2020 dangerous to national interest

Gunmen kill two in failed kidnap attempt in Kaduna

File Photo Two members of a surrounding community in Juji, Chikun-LGA of Kaduna State lost their lives as suspected kidnappers invaded the community at the late hour on Friday night. The raid in the community, which was said to have started at exactly 11.15pm, kept the residents of the area in fear. It was gathered from the youth leader of the community, Comrade Hosea Bawa that the dead victims came in from Baban Saura community to assist in keeping off the hoodlums. According to him, “They attacked our community yesterday at 11:15pm. Herders in Ebonyi now to carry identity cards – deputy governor

The Ebonyi Government on Tuesday directed that all the herders in the state should henceforth carry identity cards to help in identifying them in the event of any crime. The Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe, announced the new directive while briefing newsmen on the outcome of a special security meeting convened by Gov. David Umahi at the Government House, Abakiliki. The Rivers State Police Command has made clarifications regarding the killing of multiple persons including an unidentified chief in Luebe Community of Khana Local Government Area. Police spokesman Nnamdi Omoni, a Superintendent of Police (SP), made the clarifications on Thursday, following a report that a chief and eight others were killed in the community. Omoni said a battle of supremacy between two cult gangs, Icelanders and Greenlanders, in Luebe Community occurred and claimed the lives of two cultists and a chief. OPM: 1,775 babies delivered in our free hospitals

The management of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), free specialist hospital says about 1,775 babies have been delivered in its facilities located in Port Harcourt, Rivers, and Ohanku community in Abia. A statement issued on Sunday by the OPM Public Relation Officer (PRO), Mr Gogo-Ogute Isaiah, said that 549 of the deliveries were recorded in their hospital in Rivers, while 1,226 were recorded in Abia. Isaiah quoted the Director of the hospital Dr Enighe Ugboma, as saying that the babies delivered in Rivers were delivered by 527 mothers. Ugboma who was speaking on the one year anniversary of the hospital in Rivers, noted that 1,179 women registered for antenatal in the last 12 months. She stated that the OPM hospital in Abia which was established in 2012 had 1,226 deliveries since inception. “...

The Nigerian Army on Saturday released 601 ex-Boko Haram members after undergoing six months de-radicalisation, rehabilitation and reintegration (DRR) programme in Gombe State. The graduation ceremony of the ex-insurgents took place on Saturday at Malam Sidi community in Kwami Local Government Area of the state. Speaking during the event, Bamidele Shafa, the Coordinator of Operation Safe Corridor (OSC), said the ex-insurgents were ready to be re-integrated into the society. Shafa, a major-general, said the graduating batch four clients were admitted in December 2019 and within the six months undertook a comprehensive medical test to ascertain their health status that enabled their proper care. Gunmen kill 21 in fresh Kaduna village attack

At least 21 people have been reported killed while 28 others sustained various degrees of injuries when gunmen attacked Kukum Daji Village of Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday night. While the State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident, the President of the Community, Mr. Yashen Titus, told newsmen that the gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, invaded the venue of a wedding party in the community at about 10 pm on Sunday night. Titus, who explained that the suspected herdsmen opened fire on the people who attended the party, said 19 people died on the spot while two others later died at the hospital.
