Fancy Patchwork Jeans? We Found the Best Pieces to Shop Online

The classic blue jean got a handcrafted makeover for 2021. Patchwork jeans were a standout trend at London Fashion Week spring/summer 2021, seen at Victoria Beckham, Vivienne Westwood, and Bethany Williams — and now you can shop this ’70s-inspired style at your favourite online boutiques. If you fancy investing in designer pieces, then Net-a-Porter’s in-house sustainable brand Net Sustain has a great selection. But if you prefer saving some coins on your next denim purchase, then you’re best checking high-street brands that cater to an edgier customer. We’re loving Jaded London, Bershka, The Ragged Priest, and Urban Outfitters for finding a great pair of two-tone or patchwork jeans at an accessible price point. Although this denim trend is a bit on the rebellious si...

Denim Is the Fabric of 2021: Here Are 20 of My Favourite Buys

As a time-tested staple worn by people in all spheres of society (from pop stars to university professors), denim is arguably one of the most democratic fabrics to be found in our wardrobes. Who What Wear’s Nell Block revealed in her 2021 denim report that an academic study by Daniel Miller and Sophie Woodward showed that, “At any given moment, more than half the world will be wearing this single textile.” Now that’s an impressive claim to fame. This year has seen denim’s well-established brand expand beyond its usual jeans-shaped borders, and has experimented with everything from dresses and shirts, to skirts and jackets. While each of these denim-clad items is hardly new to the fashion scene, the fact that th...

Katie Holmes Is Really Selling This Whole Non–Skinny Jeans Look to Me

If you’re exhausted by the Millennial/Gen Z debate over jeans, where to part your hair, and what lingo and emojis are considered cool, you’re not alone in that. As a Millennial who just wants to part my hair to the side in peace, I get it, but something I am team Gen Z on is what denim trend reigns supreme in 2021 (and it’s not skinny jeans). Katie Holmes and I seem to be on the same page. Loose, baggy jeans that puddle around the ankles are the style that Gen Z and now Katie Holmes gives the stamp of approval—and her 14-year-old (AKA Gen Z) daughter Suri would surely approve. Yesterday in New York, with her very baggy jeans, Katie Holmes wore a crewneck T-shirt and camel coat, along with her signature white sneakers. It’s an easy look that would be chic w...

The 4 Best Trainer Styles to Wear With Jeans

Trainers are to jeans as Nutella is to pancakes; eyeliner is to Alexa Chung; and corsets are to the cast of Bridgerton. They just look good together. The only major flaw in this thinking, however, is that every pair of trainers works with every pair of jeans. As someone who has often chosen jeans and sneakers over heels and a dress, I’ve worked out that there are certain trainers that work best with certain jeans silhouettes. Yes, it does help that I own a fair amount of both, but the way I see it is that you can rest assured that I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about this and have honed down the ideal combos.  When thinking about what trainers to wear with jeans, the first I think about is the hem of the trousers. Are they cropped or tapered? This immediately ...

This Jeans Trend Keeps Trying to Come Back, Here’s Proof It’s On the Rise

If there’s one jeans trend we see vacillating in and out of fashion from season to season it’s flared jeans. The ‘70s silhouette always makes an appearance on the runways practically every season—and this spring/summer ’21 was no exception. From Victoria Beckham to Balmain we saw everything from bootcut styles to traditional flares and loose, wide-leg styles pop up on the runways confirming that the retro silhouette is well and truly back in full force—and this season they feel refreshingly modern and cool. We’re seeing the flattering jeans making waves on Instagram too—spotted all over our favorite fashion girls lately—pairing them with everything from sneakers to cute cardigans. Take a peek below to see how cool girls are styling the trend right now and shop our favorites...

Every Fashion Expert Is Buying a Pair of These Non–Skinny Jeans

I want to start this by saying that just because there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that no one is really wearing skinny jeans right now, that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of them entirely. Fashion is fickle but it loves nostalgia and resurrecting trends, so it’s very likely that at some point in the not-too-distant future, drainpipes will once again be à la mode. For now, though, the hottest silhouette around is the barrel-leg jean. Now, what does that actually mean? We first had these style of jeans on our radar back in 2017 when Whistles launched its version and we saw it taking off. The Whistles signature barrel-leg jeans have a high-rise waist, loose-fitting legs and are cropped just above the ankle. I consider them akin to mom jeans b...

Monki’s new denim campaign poses the question, ‘looking for the perfect match?’ Well, aren’t we all, always? Finding those elusive dream jeans is in my opinion about as hard a challenge as training for a half marathon. We know it’s doable, but it takes a lot of time, effort and hard work to get there. Enter Monki’s new spring drop and useful jeans guide. For a while we’ve known this under-the-radar high street...

Every Fashion Expert Is Buying a Pair Of These Anti-Skinny Jeans

We first had these style of jeans on our radar back in 2017 when Whistles launched its version and we saw it taking off. Ganni and Levi’s Launch Sustainable Jeans Collection Made From an Innovative Denim Alternative

Ganni and Levi’s are at it again. After the brands collaborated on an upcycled, rental-only denim capsule collection for summer 2020, the Danish cool-girl brand and the American classic jeans company are teaming up on a second, innovative eco-denim collection made from “cottonised hemp” — and this time, you’ll be able to purchase and keep the pieces you love. Ganni x Levi’s cottonised hemp collection features denim jeans, jackets, shorts, dresses, and tops made from the innovative fabric. “Hemp generally requires less water and fewer pesticides in cultivation than conventionally grown cotton,” said Ganni in a press statement. “The hemp blended into these garments comes from rain-fed hemp crops, which reduces water usage even further. It is th...

It’s Official: These 8 High-Street Stores Do the Best Jeans

As far as shopping experiences go, finding a great pair of jeans on the high street used to be tough (IRL or online, tbh). But over the past few years, there’s been an influx of affordable styles, lengths and shapes that suit every body shape. It’s no longer good enough that “cheap” jeans should feel cheap, so gone are the days of ill-fitting saggy pairs made of fabric that quickly wears away. Seeing as I only have one body (and different figures suit different jeans), I decided to put the question to our Facebook group, So… Should I Buy This? on the jeans they rate on the high street right now. There were some brands that were mentioned several times, and while I wouldn’t say there were any surprises, it’s clear that jeans have a lot of peopl...

1 Perfect Pair of H&M Jeans, Worn 5 Ways

If you were to poll women on the item they find most difficult to shop for, I’d hazard a guess and say that jeans are very high on the list (perhaps even only second to swimwear). It is a universal understanding that finding the perfect pair of jeans is akin to finding a needle in a haystack, especially when you take into account the fact that sizes, silhouettes and trouser lengths tend to vary significantly across different brands. Standing at the relatively tiny stature of 5’1″ shopping for jeans has been a difficult endeavour for as long as I can remember, which is why I was so pleased with my most recent high-street purchase. Nestled in amongst H&M’s 306-strong women’s denim section I managed to find to find a pair of jeans that not only fits me, ...
