Black Midi have released a three-track EP titled Cavalcovers, featuring their renditions of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story,” King Crimson’s “21st Century Schizoid Man,” and Captain Beefheart’s “Moonlight on Vermont.” The EP arrives just as Black Midi kick off their headlining North American tour. Give it a listen below. Cavalcovers is a play on words referencing the band’s 2021 album Cavalcade. Last year, Black Midi recorded five fan-voted covers for different territories and retailers that were available on limited flexi discs. Three of those covers comprise the tracklist for their new EP. Swedish pop singer Lykke Li is back with her first new song in two years. “No Hotel” is co-produced by Li and longtime collaborator Björn Yttling. Check out the track below. Let’s Eat Grandma, the British duo of Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth, have announced a UK and North American tour and shared another song from Two Ribbons, their forthcoming album. The track is called “Levitation” and it comes with a music video directed by Noel Paul. Check it out below. Michael Gudinski, the larger-than-life founder of Mushroom Group, is immortalized with a statue in his hometown, Melbourne. The late independent music great is honored with a life-sized sculpture, presented Thursday morning (March 24) as part of the group’s “MG Day,” a celebration of Gudinski’s life and legacy. Dan Andrews, premier of Victoria; rocker Jimmy Barnes; family members and Mushroom staff were on hand for the unveiling of the Michael Gudinski AM Statue, which captures MG with his familiar “No. 1” salute. Los Tigres del Norte crosses off a new milestone this week on their Billboard chart career as they land a 16th No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, spanning four distinct decades of chart champs. Users who download the Spotify app from the Google Play store will soon be able to decide whether to subscribe to the audio streaming service using Google Play or Spotify’s separate payment services, the companies said Wednesday. The updated payment feature will roll out later this year and will essentially allow Spotify to lose less in commission fees to Google, should users choose to subscribe to the streaming service via Spotify’s payment service. The K-pop star visited a hospital Wednesday (March 23) with a sore throat, and, after taking a PCR test, was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus, reads a statement from BigHit Music. J-Hope is fully-vaxxed, currently has “no symptoms other than a sore throat,” and is undergoing treatment at home while under quarantine, the statement adds. A booklet filled with haiku poetry and illustrations done by an 11-year-old 2Pac could fetch up to $300,000 USD at auction.
