Big Thief drummer and producer James Krivchenia has announced a new experimental solo album. It’s called Blood Karaoke and it’s due out April 15 via Reading Group. He’s shared the lead single, “Emissaries of Creation,” which you can check out below. Krivchenia created Blood Karaoke by sampling unwatched YouTube videos found through random online generators. (The generators found clips of Microsoft Office PowerPoint presentations, video game walkthroughs, old local news clips, and more.) “It was a very iterative, long process, lots of editing and putting together little moments or 10 second chunks with lots of samples. Madonna, the Canadian producer Sickick, and Fireboy DML have released a new remix of “Frozen.” The second remix of the 1998 classic, originally from Ray of Light, follows an official release last December of the version that went viral on TikTok. Kevin Morby has announced a new album. The follow-up to 2020’s Sundowner is called This Is a Photograph; it’s out May 13 via Dead Oceans. He’s also announced a world tour. According to reports, Aariel Maynor pleaded guilty to murdering the 81-year old philanthropist on Thursday (March 3rd) in a Los Angeles courtroom. The incident took place in December 2021 during a late-night home invasion at the Avant’s home in Beverly Hills. Maynor ran into Jacqueline and opened fire with an “assault long barrel pistol”.
