After years of teasing a new Black Star album, it seems as though the record is slowly becoming a reality for fans. Talib Kweli took to Instagram to share a photo of him and Yasiin Bey, previously known as Mos Def, with a caption that read, “The new Black Star album was recorded in hotel rooms and dressing rooms across the globe. I love how my brother @yasiinbey pushes me musically. #blackstarforever follow @blackstarkeepshining today…” Although a release date was not announced, it is the first piece of information about the album that fans have received in almost a year. Kanye West shared never-before-seen studio photos with dream pop duo Beach House as a new tracklist of DONDA 2 hit the internet. Ye took to Instagram to upload photos of him with Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally, the pair that makes up Beach House, in the studio. Neither the rapper nor the band shared any details of what they were working on, however, leaving my fans in the comments section to simply share their excitement for the possible collab. Drakeo The Ruler‘s brother Ralfy The Plug and several members of the Stinc Team collective filed a lawsuit against Live Nation over the “mob attack” that took place during the Once Upon a Time in LA music festival, which resulted in the rapper’s death and “severe physical and emotional harm.” According to Rolling Stone, the lawsuit states that the likes of Live Nation, C3 Presents, Bobby Dee Presents, Snoop Dogg’s LLC and more should be held liable because of their lax security protocols. “[C]aravans of multiple vehicles” were supposedly allowed to enter the backstage VIP area without getting evaluated while Drakeo the Ruler’s group was eventually targeted by an “ongoing mob attack that lasted up to 15 minutes” without security attempting to stop the commotion. Despite being met with praise by some in the music industry, many fans were unhappy that they would need to buy the $200 USD device to listen to Ye’s eleventh studio album and have been looking into alternatives. Shortly after the tracks “Pablo,” “Broken Road,” “Security” and “We Did It Kid” were uploaded to the Stem Player website, some tech-savvy fans made it possible for those without the device to listen to the songs through file sharing sites. The artist formerly known as Kanye West was named the most-streamed artist on Spotify over the weekend, despite the fact that his newest album DONDA 2 was not released on streaming services. Chart Data confirmed on Twitter that Ye was the No. 1 most-streamed artist on US Spotify on February 26 — the same week his DONDA 2 Listening Experience took place in Miami and a day after a majority of the record arrived on his very own YEEZY Stem Player. The rise in his streaming numbers also coincide with the release of the second episode of his Netflix documentary, jeen-yuhs.
