Executive Turntable: Merlin Conjures New Board; WMUK Label Vet Promoted to SVP, Commercial

Merlin announced its newly-elected board, which includes representatives from 12 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania. The Merlin board includes equal representation from the organization’s three regional blocs: North America, Europe and All Other Countries, according to a press release. Nine of this year’s board members were elected or appointed for their first term, while 11 members are returning for another term. ‘Cold Heart’ Returns Another Elton John Classic to the Hot 100’s Top 10

It’s an achievement to send a song to the Billboard Hot 100‘s top 10 once. Elton John has become particularly adept at having his compositions reach the region twice. John’s “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix),” with Dua Lipa, jumps to No. 7 on the latest Hot 100 (dated Jan. 15). Jack White has shared another new song. This one’s called “Love Is Selfish” and it appears on his forthcoming album Entering Heaven Alive. Check it out below. Entering Heaven Alive, which arrives on July 22, is the second of two albums that White plans to release this year. He’s also set to issue Fear of the Dawn on April 8, and shared “Taking Me Back” from the LP in October. Logic Announces New Album ‘Vinyl Days’

Maryland rapper Logic is officially signifying the end of his rap retirement with the announcement of his new album, Vinyl Days. The mixtape is expected to be the artist’s seventh studio album. The rapper and producer took to Instagram to share a clip of himself in his own home studio creating a beat for his upcoming album. In the beginning of the clip Logic is taking a mic out of a zip case and can be heard saying, “This is JAY-Z’s microphone. No I.D. gave it to me.” He then goes on to record a sound effect with his mouth before overlaying it on beats. Here’s the New Date of the 2022 SCL Awards

The 2022 SCL Awards, presented by the Society of Composers & Lyricists, have been rescheduled to March 8 and will be held at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The awards were originally slated to be presented on Feb. 1 at the Skirball, with Emmy winner Darren Criss hosting, but on Jan. 7 they were postponed due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.
