Rappers Lil Nas X and NBA YoungBoy have joined forces for a new track. On “Late To Da Party,” produced by Take A Daytrip, Lil Nas X takes aim at the 2022 BET Awards, which he didn’t receive any nominations for this year. Lil Nas X began teasing the song earlier this week with a roughly 30-second teaser advertising live performances from him and NBA YoungBoy at the awards show, calling it “culture’s biggest night.” The rapper had a breakthrough year with two top singles, “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow and “Montero [Call Me By Your Name].” His debut album Montero was also certified platinum. BET has since responded to Lil Nas X with a statement citing his nomination at the awards last year, as well as his “Old Town Road” performance with Billy Ray Cyrus at the event in 2019: “He was nomina...
Electronic music continues its unexpected crossover into the world of Formula 1 racing with EA Sports’ upcoming game. Gamers will be able to blaze through racetracks to the sounds of “Fallaway” by RL Grime and Baauer, “Renegade” by Kavinsky and Cautious Clay, “Channel 43” by Wolfgang Gartner and deadmau5, and “Carry Us” by LP Giobbi and Kaleena Zanders, among many others. The complete list ...

Copyrights are very expensive and timely to enforce. The United States established the Copyright Claims Board (CCB), which allows copyright owners to file disputes and resolve issues more efficiently and avoid an expensive federal court case. Comprising three members who are well-versed in copyright law, the CCB was developed from the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement (CASE) Act of 2020. Damages can’t exceed $30,000, which seems like a lot. If you use an attorney you can get an additional $5,000 and $2,500 if you don’t. But if you’re a musician with work that gets stolen from someone whose track ultimately goes Platinum, you could likely sue for much more in damages. “Copyrights [are] an issue for federal courts only—it’s not a state ...

A new vinyl pressing plant is headed to Oxnard, California, Billboard reports. The sorely needed addition to the vinyl economy—amid ongoing reports of backlogs and bottlenecks—will arrive thanks to the elite reissue label Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab and its parent company, Music Direct. With eight presses from Nashville company Record Pressing Machines, the group will initially aim to press 2 million records a year with a strict focus on “quality—not quantity,” according to a press release. The increased production capacity will enable MoFi to “issue records that aren’t just the standard classic rock an...

We’ve known each other for a while, but never recorded music together. Ky...
