After 13 nominations, SZA won her first GRAMMY last night. The singer was awarded Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her upbeat single with Doja Cat “Kiss Me More.” The song dropped in April of last year with a dreamy and futuristic music video of the two artists. Coming off of the major win, she also gave Variety an update following the awards ceremony on forthcoming music. Asked about her sophomore LP, the singer said she had “just actually finished it up in Hawaii recently” and “it’s coming soon.” “I think it’s my most unisex album. Jon Batiste took the stage at the 2022 Grammys tonight. He played a brief piano interlude while dressed in a black cape before hopping center stage, ditching the robe to reveal a sparkling suit, and performing his hit song “Freedom” from his 2021 album We Are. Batiste enlisted a full band for the set, as well as backup dancers in colorful outfits. James Alexander, the last surviving member of The Bar-Kays band that backed soul music star Otis Redding, will have a street renamed after him in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, Stax Museum said. Located near the Stax Records studios where the the soul-funk collective recorded, Stafford Avenue in Memphis is scheduled to get a new name on April 24: James E. Alexander Avenue. The bassist is the founder and last living member of the Bar-Kays. Four band members and Redding died when their plane crashed into an icy lake in Wisconsin on Dec. 10, 1967. They were headed to a show in Madison when the plane went down.
