Miley Cyrus Announces MTV Unplugged Backyard Sessions Performance
Riding high off her viral Blondie cover, Miley Cyrus has announced she’s got a special TV performance on the way as part of the legendary MTV Unplugged series. The full title is MTV Unplugged Presents “Miley Cyrus Backyard Sessions” and it’s set to air later this month. According to a press release, Cyrus will reimagine the iconic music series from the comfort of her backyard in Los Angeles. In addition to performing a stripped-down version of her new single “Midnight Sky” and other songs from her career, the Younger Now singer will also break out covers of Pearl Jam, The Cardigans, and “Gimme More” by Britney Spears. Warner Bros. Pushes Back The Batman to 2022
As the pandemic continues to cripple the film industry, Warner Bros. has once again been forced to reconfigure its upcoming release state. Notably, The Batman has been pushed all the way to 2022. The move was widely anticipated following Warner Bros.’s earlier announcement moving Dune to October 1st, 2021 — The Batman’s previous release date. The Robert Pattinson-starring Batflick will now swoop into theaters on March 4th, 2022. Additionally, Warner Bros. has moved The Flash to November 4th, 2022 and Shazam! 2 to June 2nd, 2023. Don’t look now, but Phoebe Bridgers has launched her very own record label. In partnership with Dead Oceans, she’s announced the creation of Saddest Factory. Bridgers will serve as the label’s CEO and intends to release music of all variety. “The vision of the label is simple: good songs, regardless of genre,” she said in a press release announcing the label’s formation. In an interview with Billboard, Bridgers said she is especially excited to be involved in the marketing of music, which she describes as her “secret passion.” She explained further: “I love thinking of bus bench ideas and Instagram filters and stuff. The Kills have shared a previously unreleased demo called “Raise Me”. The song is taken from the band’s newly announced rarities collection, Little Bastards, arriving December 11th via Domino. The compilation comprises recordings dating from The Kill’s earliest 7-inch singles in 2002 through 2009. Featuring remastered B-sides, demos, and covers, Little Bastards collects many tracks originally recorded for bonus inclusion on CD singles. As that format vanished in the wake of digital streaming, most of those songs were abandoned — hence the title Little Bastards. Trey Anastasio is bringing fans back to the Beacon. The Phish frontman has announced an eight-week virtual residency to be livestreamed from New York City’s iconic Beacon Theatre. Dubbed “The Beacon Jams”, the shows come in partnership with MSG Entertainment and Twitch. Every Friday from October 9th through November 27th, Anastasio will take the Beacon stage for performances that will be broadcast on his Twitch channel beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.
