Ms. Marvel (Marvel) and Iman Vellani (photo via TIFF) Marvel has found the latest hero to bear its name. Newcomer Iman Vellani has been cast as the title character in the upcoming Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. Vellani is a complete unknown in Hollywood, with her only notable connection being her spot on the Toronto International Film Festival’s Next Wave Committee last year. As Deadline reports, Marvel was determined to find the perfect actress for the role, regardless of their usual A-list casting habits. After a long and thorough process, Vellani nabbed the coveted part. The plan is to have her debut in the Disney+ show before she transitions to the big screen. Ms. Marvel debuted in 2014 as Marvel’s first Muslim hero to headline their own comic series. The character is Kamala Khan, a Pakist...

As of today, nearly 210,000 Americans have died of COVID-19 and millions more are still unsure about the longterm repercussions the novel virus will have on their bodies. Meanwhile, the economy has cratered and tens of millions of Americans are out of work. The live music and film industries are largely shut down, and sports teams are playing inside of empty stadiums. And, tragically, there’s no end to the pandemic in sight. Despite this, Trump has routinely bragged about his administration’s response to the virus, going as far to give himself an “A+” letter grade. Asked if there was any area he felt he failed at, Trump identified only one — public relations — but he blamed the “fake news” for that. “I have fake news, you know, I can’t — you can’t convince them of anything, they’re a ...
The release of Touché Amoré’s forthcoming album, Lament, is right around the corner (October 9th), and the band has served up one final preview with “Reminders”. The video truly is a sweet piece of quarantined cuteness, compiled from clips that each artist filmed individually. “The music video for ‘Reminders’ conceptually was driven by bringing some jo...
TikTok is a lot of things, from a breeding ground for obnoxious influencers to the bane of Trump’s social media existence. It’s also proven to be a massive boon to Fleetwood Mac’s career thanks to a recent video featuring the band’s “Dreams” going viral. Five days ago, TikTok user 420doggface208, aka Nathan Apodaca, posted a clip of himself cruising on a skateboard while drinking a jug of Ocean Spray’s Cran-Raspberry juice and singing along to “Dreams”. Stevie Nicks scoring his smooth glide against the clear, early morning sky combined for a vision of pure bliss, and the Internet ate it up. Since then, the single off 1977’s Rumors has experienced a huge bump in streaming and sales numbers. According to Billboard, the song has seen a 88.7% increase in streams (2.9 million) and a whopping 37...

Pro Era member Chuck Strangers had a busy 2018 thanks to the rollout cycle for his debut solo album, Consumers Park. Since then, the Brooklyn-based rapper has been relatively silent, but he’s looking to change that today by releasing a new song called “Regular Season”. This is the first official single Strangers has released through his own label, Sounds of Beverly, which he announced earlier this year. A press release suggests there’s more to come from Strangers soon, be it other solo tracks of collaborative material with other artists. The latter wouldn’t come as a surprise considering what a pivotal role he’s played in other artists’ careers over the years. In a statement, Strangers said he felt inspired to write “Regular Season” in part due to the natural evolution that comes with grow...
