Nicki Minaj may be expecting, but the mother-to-be still appreciates a luxurious item or two or three. A former rap prodigy, the man born Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo is now a 23-year-old hip-hop vet. Zulu Man with Some Power is his third LP, as well as his Def Jam debut, made possible by the success of 2018’s Strings and Bling. Deftones Serve Up White Pony Beer in Honor of Album’s 20th Anniversary
Deftones fans have been drinking in the sensational sounds of White Pony for 20 years. Now, they can actually consume “White Pony” beer, as the alt-metal act has announced a new IPA named after their 2000 landmark album. In addition to prepping the release of a brand-new album titled Ohms, due September 25th, Deftones have been commemorating the 20th anniversary of White Pony in style. Previously, the band launched a limited-edition merch capsule, and revealed that they are working on a reissue of the LP, complete with a bonus disc of remixes titled “Black Stallion”. Joe Ruby, co-creator of beloved animated characters including Scooby-Doo, has died of natural causes. Via Variety, he was 87 years old. Along with his writing partner Ken Spears, Ruby helped establish Hanna-Barbera’s voice and redefined Saturday morning cartoons. They created such beloved children’s series as Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, Dynomutt, Dog Wonder, Jabberjaw, The Barkleys, and The Houndcats. Later, Ruby-Spears Productions executive produced animated series like Superman, Mr. T., Alvin and the Chipmunks, Thundarr the Barbarian, and more. Walmart and Microsoft Team Up to Try and Buy TikTok
Just when you thought the TikTok Royal Rumble couldn’t get any wilder, Walmart’s entrance music started to play. As CNBC reports, the Big Box chain is making a late move to acquire TikTok by tag-teaming with Microsoft. TikiTok is currently owned by the Beijing-based company ByteDance. By joining together, Microsoft and Walmart hope to fend off other deep-pocketed bidders, including the tech giant Oracle. CNBC guesses the final price tag will be between $20 and $30 billion, and a deal could happen within the week. Ever since a sale seemed likely, Microsoft has been connected to TikTok. John Lennon’s Killer Mark David Chapman Denied Parole for 11th Time
Mark David Chapman, the man convicted of murdering John Lennon, has once again been denied parole and will remain in prison for at least another two years. According to The New York Daily News, a parole board denied Chapman’s request for early release on August 19th. Chapman, 65, is currently serving a 20 years-to-life sentence after pleading guilty to killing Lennon on December 8th, 1980. In 2000, Chapman became eligible for parole, but his request for early release has been denied eleven times to date. In past parole hearings, Chapman claimed to have found Jesus and said he felt “more and more shame” for his actions.
