Anyone else’s year been so crazy they forgot Alanis Morissette dropped a really excellent new album, Such Pretty Forks in the Road? Well, as a much needed reminder that there has been some good in 2020, the Canadian-American icon has celebrated the LP with a new contribution to the Spotify Singles series. Although the standard practice for the series is for artists to reinterpret one song from their catalog and cover someone else’s, Morissette decided to tackle two of her own tracks. First is “Reasons I Drink”, the lead single from Such Pretty Forks, which is given a very faithful yet stripped back reworking. It’s somewhat bolder and grittier here, even as it’s driven by an acoustic guitar. Morissette’s new imagining of the classic “You Oughta Know”, as might be expected, is the real highl...

A second single, “This Feeling is Disgusting”, has now been revealed. The track is a literal reaction to the world — as it is in this present moment and what it may ha...
A photo from the Biebers’ maskless birthday party, photo via Instagram/@justinbieber The celebrities are at it again! While many Los Angeles residents are obeying the city’s pandemic orders, Justin Bieber and wife Hailey thumbed their nose at the law and hosted a maskless birthday party for R&B/pop singer Justine Skye last weekend, per the Daily Mail. In addition to the honorary celebrant, the star-studded guest list included Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Jaden Smith, and model Winnow Harlow, who was the only person the paparazzi snapped wearing a face mask. Yikes. Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti issued a citywide order on August 7th that bans “all public and private gatherings of any number of people,” except those in the same household or essential operations. At press time, there ...
The relatively short history of Wu-Tang Clan’s seventh studio album, 2015’s one-of-a-kind Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, is already something of a legend. It’s a weird, wild tale involving pharmadouche Martin Shkreli, $2 million auctions, diss tracks, and federal forfeitures. Now, the whole sordid story will be told in a new Netflix film. The announcement of the project was tucked into a press release about screenwriter Ian Edelman’s new movie, American Sole (starring Pete Davidson and O’Shea Jackson Jr.). As Collider reports, Brittany Runs a Marathon director Paul Downs Colaizzo will helm the project, with Wu-Tang’s own RZA producing alongside Brad Pitt’s Plan B. Edelman will be working off Colaizzo’s original draft of the script. For those who don’t know, the Wu-Tang Clan only produced one...

Announcing the show in a statement, Allen said, “Let’s face it — we’re living in a throwaway society. We buy, break, replace… rinse and repe...
Longtime Nirvana fan Kid Cudi has gotten a tattoo of Kurt Cobain wearing a Daniel Johnston shirt. Cudi shared the photorealistic ink in social media posts over the weekend. The tattoo appears to be on the outside of his left forearm, and was performed by Doctor Woo, he of the rumored two-year waitlist. As Uproxx points out, Cobain is depicted just as he was during the 1992 VMAs, complete with a shirt honoring Johnston’s 1983 album Hi, How Are You. As Woo said in his own statement, “Kurt in Daniel on Cudi…legends all the way round.” Cudi’s never been shy about his feelings for Cobain, and has tweeted about the grunge icon numerous times, including, “Never not thinkin’ about Kurt Cobain,” “Im obsessed with Kurt Cobain. I wish he was still here, so he could teach me guitar tricks,” ...
