Loretta Lynn Announces New Album Still Woman Enough, Shares “Coal Miner’s Daughter (Recitation)”: Stream
Today, January 4th, is the 50th anniversary of Loretta Lynn‘s breakthrough album Coal Miner’s Daughter. To celebrate, she’s announced her new full-length, Still Woman Enough, as well as shared a fresh take on an old favorite, “Coal Miner’s Daughter (Recitation)”. Per USA Today, Still Woman Enough arrives March 19th via Legacy Recordings. The LP comes with 13 songs that span originals, covers of American standards, and updated looks at Lynn’s storied discography. The title track references her 1966 single “You Ain’t Woman Enough (to Take My Man)”. It was written by Lynn and her daughter Patsy Lynn Russell, and features vocals from fellow country heavyweights Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood. Founding Children of Bodom frontman Alexi Laiho has tragically died at the age of 41. The musician, considered one of metal’s best contemporary guitarists, passed away at his home in Helsinki, Finland, after suffering from “long-term health issues,” according to his label, Napalm Records. Laiho originally formed Children of Bodom as Inearth back in 1993 as a young teenager. He remained with the acclaimed Finnish melodic death metal act until the band decided to split up after playing a final show in December 2019. Larry King has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently receiving treatment in a Los Angeles hospital. The 87-year-old talk show host reportedly contracted the virus 10 days ago, according to The Daily Beast. His condition was not immediately known. Given his advanced age and long history of health ailments, King is at a higher risk of experiencing the most severe symptoms of coronavirus. IRS Says Prince’s Estate Undervalued by $80 Million, Owes $32.4 Million in Taxes
When Prince died in 2016, he not only left a massive hole in the world of entertainment, but a complicated financial situation. The rock legend left no will, leaving it to his estate to wade through some messy legal waters. Now, the IRS has said the executors of Prince’s estate undervalued it by over $80 million and owe a substantial sum in federal taxes. As NBC News reports, the IRS has determined Prince’s estate to be worth $163.2 million — nearly double the $82.3 million valuation put forth by the estate. Court documents put the balance of the discrepancy largely on music publishing rights and “recording interests.” As a result, the IRS is seeking an additional $32.4 million in federal taxes, as well as a $6.4 million “accuracy-related penalty” for “substantial” assets undervaluation. Tanya Roberts, a former Bond girl and ’80s B-movie star who later played Donna Pinciotti’s mom Midge on That ’70s Show, has died at the age of 65. According to TMZ, Roberts was hospitalized on Christmas Eve after collapsing in her home. She passed away on Sunday, January 3rd. A former teenage model, Roberts re-located to Los Angeles in the late 1970s to pursue a career in acting. She initially landed bit parts and roles in B-movies, but in 1980 she was chosen from some 2,000 candidates to replace Shelley Hack in the fifth season of ABC’s Charlie’s Angels. Gerry Marsden, frontman of Gerry and the Pacemakers, has died at the age of 78.
