The live-action Lilo & Stitch movie has received a release date, now slated to hit theaters on May 23, 2025.Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp and written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, the film will star Chris Sanders as the voice of Stitch and Maia Kealoha as Lilo.Zach Galifianakis is also in the voice cast as Stitch’s creator, Dr. Jumba Jookiba, while Billy Magnussen plays the special agent tasked with hunting Stitch down. Now, retailers that once offered their movie rental services are left wondering what to do with the giant machines parked outside their stores.Over the summer, the parent company of Redbox, Chicken Soup for the Soul, shifted its filing from bankruptcy filing from Chapter 11 to Chapter 7, meaning it would be liquidated. The company also left behind hundreds of millions in debt.Retailers now bear the responsibility of figuring out what to do with the machines. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, former Redbox finance executive Brian Rady said that it will likely cost retailers $500 USD a piece to remove the kiosks. Nobuyo Oyama, who voiced the anime series Doraemon, has died at age 90.Oyama had passed away on September 29, according to her agency Actors 7. The agency apologized for the delay in its statement.“We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness you extended to the deceased during her lifetime,” the agency said.Oyama was best known for providing the raspy voice behind voicing the eponymous character in Doraemon – a robotic earless cat – from 1979 through 2005.
