Dwayne Johnson has signed on to play MMA fighter Mark Kerr in a new movie from A24. The biopic is called The Smashing Machine and will directed by Benny Safdie for his first solo directorial effort, sans brother Josh.The Smashing Machine takes its title from Kerr’s nickname in the octagon, as well the 2002 HBO documentary The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr.The film will hold a lens to the career of the two-time UFC Heavyweight champion and his struggles with addiction to prescription painkillers. Marvel Studios has announced that a Black Panther animated series is in the works. Titled Eyes of Wakanda, the new projects was teased by Marvel exec Brand Winderbaum at an event to promote the upcoming second season of What If...? .The new project is a part of multiple series currently in production with director Ryan Coogler at the helm to expand the Wakanda storyline. In the official logline from Marvel, Eyes of Wakanda's plot states, "Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story." Lionsgate surprised Saw fans with an official release date of Saw XI.The studio took to social media to announce a September 27, 2024 release date for the 11th film in the horror franchise. "The game continues," the caption read, but failed to reveal any additional information such as the director attached, a cast and plot details.
