Chuck Palahniuk, the author of the 1996 novel Fight Club — which was later made into the cult-classic David Fincher film in 1999 — has just responded to China‘s decision to change the ending of the story. Screenshots are currently circulating the Internet of the rewritten ending where “Project Mayhem” never takes place and the police capture Edward Norton/Brad Pitt’s character at the end and he is sent to a psychiatric hospital. Oddly enough, the altered ending is closer to Palahniuk’s original vision of the story where the bomb malfunctions and the narrator shoots himself only to wake up in a hospital. Following a demand from music artist Neil Young asking Spotify to choose between either him or Joe Rogan, Spotify has confirmed that Young’s music will be withdrawn from the streaming platform. Following a leaked internal letter to his label that read, “They can have Rogan or Young. The concept art sees both Dr. Strange and Mysterio flying in the air, their hands at the ready, with New York City’s Statue of Liberty between them. The setting hints that the fight was originally planned for the ending, but many fans are discussing whether this Mysterio is just using his holographic technology and is from a different universe. Jake Gyllenhaal has signed on to star in and produce Cut & Run, a film about thieves that use high-powered speedboats to rob superyachts. Plans go awry, however, when the thieves “steal the wrong thing from the wrong group of people,” per the project’s logline. New Republic Pictures has won the right to the movie’s spec script, which was written by John Glenn, in a bidding war. Glenn penned the script for the Eagle Eye (2008) and Clash of the Titans (2010), among other action and thriller films. Mortal Kombat, the action-adventure movie based on the widely-popular video game franchise, will receive a sequel, according to Deadline. The forthcoming film will be created from a script written by Jeremy Slater, who was the head screenwriter for Marvel‘s Moon Knight. Slater is also known for his co-writing 2015’s Fantastic Four with Josh Trank and Simon Kinberg, along with developing Netflix‘s The Umbrella Academy and Fox TV’s The Exorcist. Disney has released a statement following Peter Dinklage‘s criticism of the studio’s live-action Snow White film.
