It might only be February, but 2022 has already yielded its first trending accessory and, of course, it comes courtesy of Celine. The style in question is very classic in lots of ways, featuring an oval shape and hard-wearing acetate finish. You wouldn’t necessarily notice them in a crowd in the same way you would a logo-laden handbag, but that’s what we love about them. And while the sunglasses have been bestowed ‘It’ status this season, you know that you’ll bring them out year after year. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Fashion Month has kicked off with its first stop of the season: New York. While we naturally anticipate the moment when the torch passes to London, there’s always a palpable excitement when the first shots from across the pond begin to land in our inboxes. After all, New York Fashion Week sets the tone for the entire month, and if the first few days are anything to go by, this season is shaping up to be quite the spectacle. To ensure you have insight on what the editors, influencers, and celebrities are wearing to take in the shows, we enlisted the talents of not one but two skilled photographers, who have been pounding the pavements to find the best street style looks from the week. There are certain wardrobe classics you can spend a lifetime searching for; the perfect pair of jeans for instance, or the perfect trench coat. For me, it’s the perfect cotton button down shirt. I’ve tried them all, mostly from the high street I admit, and brought home a few really good ones to add to my collection. Mango, H&M and Arket all have great affordable options, but none have quite met my high standards of absolute perfection. They’re either too long, too oversized, too see-through or too stretchy; not to mention the ones that are lost to their creases after the first wash and never regain that original crispness. I’d almost given up on my search, but recently, thanks to a late night Net-a-Porter sale order, I think I may have stumbled across the holy...
Much to my delight, so many of the pieces I saw and loved in the Marks and Spencer S/S 22 press day last year have already started to appear in its new arrivals. From sleek, go-with-everything blazers and premium cashmere to could-be-designer handbags, good old M&S is ticking off top trends left, right and centre—and all on a relatively lean budget. There are so many treats to be had that I’ve had to control myself, and in doing so, I’ve inadvertently created the ultimate springtime Marks and Spencer capsule. Keep scrolling to see my edit. ‘Boring’ as a pair of trousers may seem, the chic proportions and expensive-looking simplicity of the Frankie Shop’s versions make them stand out from the rest. The two main hero pairs right now are the Gelso, a slightly tapered full-length trouser that work really well with a chunky trainer or black boot, and the Bea, a slightly cropped wide leg that go with every shoe, from loafers to boots to sandals. In my opinion they’re just such an easy way to make an outfit look cool while wearing what feels like pyjamas. I’ve been wearing mine recently with thin roll necks and crew necks which tuck in easily and balance the volume of the trousers, then throwing a cardigan or blazer over it and finishing the look with a leather belt. For spring, I’ll be switching for c...
We’re a sucker for a new trend, and with spring/summer on the horizon (it’s no longer dark by 3pm, at least), it’s time to invest in pieces that’ll see you through the year. And trousers have been the talk of the town. The likes of Missoni, Molly Goddard and MSGM assume we’ll all be wearing low-slung jeans for 2022. And while we swerve this trend at all costs (circa 2011 Britney and Paris Hilton can keep these), we’re here to tell you the trouser styles we’ll likely all be wearing now, through to new season, and beyond. Jeans are of course still in the mix, with punchy printed styles and effortless off-white being key. Leather has had a colourful update, flares are part of the big seventies revival and wide-leg trousers are the...
Question: How does your average item of clothing qualify for ‘wardrobe basic’ status? I mean, what really is a ‘basic’ anyway? Yes, these are the hard-hitting questions filling my mind at night. I would guess that, were it a fashion quiz, you would probably get full marks by answering ‘a white T-shirt’, ‘jeans’ or ‘a blazer’. And rightly so. But I would argue that, maybe, a basic is in the eye of the beholder. In simplest terms, all a basic really refers to is an item of clothing that you wear on a daily and weekly basis, and something that acts as a building block for a variety outfits. For one person that will be a white T-shirt, but for another it might be a pair of c...
We may not know everything about what 2022 will hold, but when it comes to what you’ll be wearing we’re pretty confident making some predictions. Yes we’re only one month into the year, but since our day jobs involve a lot of scrolling through the best outfits on social media, keeping check on the latest street style and analysing the new season’s catwalks, it puts us in a rather good position for spotting trends and soon-to-be-cult items early. So, while the uncertainty of the upcoming months may send some of us into an anxious spiral (me? Never), we’re here to bring some sartorial comfort and help guide you and your wardrobe through the start of the new year confidently. Beginning with reporting on the fourteen most-wanted items...
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that, as a shopping editor, I can be pretty damn picky when it comes to clothes. While it’s not a prerequisite of the job, there is something about having an overview of the many collections and brands, both high-street and designer, that are available at any given moment that really focuses the brain on finding only the best possible pieces. Case in point: Zara is known for its generous online offering, which, while great for choice, is not always so good for concise edits. That’s where I come in. One brand we turn to again and again in our search for these pieces is Mango. The Spanish-based brand just seems to have a knack for creating designer-worthy collections that feel luxurious without breaking the bank. What sets it apart is that, while the basis of the designs remain mostly classic, they’re not afraid to experiment with interesting details or premium materials— two of the key factors that make clothes look expensive. A trench like this one might have Frankie Shop-like shoulder pads for example; or you’ll find a wool coat with a couture-like fit for under £200. And while they don’t yet offer petite, it’s good to note the plus-size range is getting more and more impressive, with many styles now being offered up to a size 26/4XL. Keep sc...
